I was folding my 11 MO DDs clothes away a few nights ago whilst she was sat on my bed infront of me staring out of the door onto the landing.

Her head was moving as though she was watching something move. She then started laughing. I've never heard her laugh like that before. She was in absolute hysterics. She then started waving, at this point I was pretty freaked out but intrigued also.

She has often just started laughing for no apparent reason.

Anyway I really started freaking out when she lifted her arms up like she was wanting to be carried!! I went over and picked her up but she was still craning her head to look through the door way.

I don't believe in didn't believe in ghosts and have deliberated over posting for fear everyone would think I'm a fruit loop. Just want thoughts

Just your baby being a baby?

mindthegap79 · 20/07/2014 22:02

My baby dd laughs at the sight of her own toes. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Roundedbuttocks90 · 20/07/2014 22:08

It was more the fact that she lifted her arms up like she wanted to be carried

Kids and animals are creepy sometimes.

DevonCiderPunk · 20/07/2014 22:12

DS did something similar once... The source of mirth turned out to be a bluebottle pinging around the landing!

Roundedbuttocks90 · 20/07/2014 22:14

Haha devon that could figure given the time of year!

When we first moved into new.house, which previous owners husband had died in, dd used to wave at the.same spot in her room and say hello man. so I can totally see why it creeped you out!

Roundedbuttocks90 · 20/07/2014 22:20

Thank you!! I do think there was something a bit more to it than a bluebottle buzzing around.

I'm the first person to brush any thing like this off usually!

I think that babies are just stimulated by different things to adults, so we wouldn't notice something that a baby would find fascinating just as babies aren't generally entertained by the things adults enjoy.

annebullin · 20/07/2014 22:25

Nyancat many houses have had somebody die in them. It isn't unusual.

DoJo · 20/07/2014 22:31

My son still finds it hilarious when he can see the motes of dust in the air, so is a near hysterical state when the sun hits the window at the right angle. I wouldn't read anything into it - babies are just odd full stop!

moolady1977 · 20/07/2014 22:35

my daughter used to do this when she was a baby she would stand in the corner of her cot and talk (babble) away to somebody lift her arms and be having a great time ,,when a little older she grabbed a picture of my dad who had passed while i was expecting my dd and was chatting away to him when she could properly talk to us she told us that her pa as she used to babble was who she had been talking to he used to come and talk to her , so i wouldnt be too scared over it really x

TheReluctantCountess · 20/07/2014 22:37

Young children are more open to seeing things that are 'other worldly'. I know most people don't believe in it, but I do.

TurboWithAKick · 20/07/2014 22:43

There would be more ghosts than people if they existed! Everywhere would be over crowded

She'd be holding her arms up every 5 mins!

Nyancat · 20/07/2014 22:43

I know Anne. I suppose I only mentioned it because we spent a fair bit of time chatting to the previous owner about her husband and she said she used to forget that he was gone and still talked to him in the house.
not sure if I believe in anything wooooo but the house has the most lovely feel to it, it feels like a happy place so if there's something still here it's a nice something, dd can chat away to the walls!
