Kitty on a night out

Ok long story , thanks for reading ...
Recently went to the races with 5 other women 3 of whom were related to myself , we all put £100 each in the kitty for the day this was to include our bets on the day unfortunately only one of us won on the day , and the person who won decided she didn't want to pool her winnings back into the kitty as it was her bet that had won , am I being unreasonable to think it should have go e back into the kitty as I would have willingly put it in had it been my win , she also made some lame excuse up saying oh I've lost it , however the next day was umming and aahing as to whether or not she should have done it ?? Really annoyed about it and would be grateful for some other opinions thanks xx

It's one of these things you should have discussed before you went out. That sort of day, we'd have a kitty for drinks but then your own money for bets!

toomuchcoffeetoomuchwine · 20/07/2014 15:20

Oh dear... yes that behaviour does seem to be against the spirit of the day!

gordyslovesheep · 20/07/2014 15:20

YABU it's her bet and her money

Headgirl1999 · 20/07/2014 15:24

Yes it was the first time the group had done something like this and I think it was assumed that we would put any money back in as it was that money that we would have put the bet on with , so basically she had took £10 out of the kitty won £120 , so the kitty was £10 down and she was £120 up , think if she wanted to be arsey about it she should have at least put the £10 back ! Xxx

I would have kept the bet money separate.

ThePinkOcelot · 20/07/2014 15:24

Her bet, her winnings.

Headgirl1999 · 20/07/2014 15:27

Thanks for the replies good to get a different take in the subject xx

When friends and I go to bingo we split any winnings, if I go with work friends then we keep the winnings ourself.

This is something that should have been discussed.

SauvignonBlanche · 20/07/2014 15:32

If the stake money came from the kitty then the winnings belonged to the kitty.

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2014 15:35

You should have decided this first.

The honourable thing to do would be to put all the winnings in the kitty.
The next best would be to return the £10 bet

She was BU to do neither of these things, IMHO.

funnyface31 · 20/07/2014 15:37

Kitty money definitely as she took out of it.( and you kind of said kitty was for bets)

Sly I think Hmm

Headgirl1999 · 20/07/2014 15:40

Thanks ladies I thought that as some have said kitty money kitty winnings , but we should have agreed before hand , lesson learnt ! Xx

Another one who thinks it should've been discussed first.

Can totally see why she would want to keep it (who wouldn't!), but also that it would be fair to put it back in the kitty .
