DS just did v well (better than expected) in his exams (gcse equivalents -we are abroad.)
DH was going to give him €100 as an end of term/ well done gift. However, DS recently broke his nice mobile and I know he would really like a new one. (He has an old non-smart phone to tide him over.)
I have an iphone 4s that I was about to ebay, having just upgraded. WIBU to give this to DS along with €50 for his gift?
The phone is perfect and I would have sold it for over €100 so it seems to me like a good deal. I know he would love an iphone. Plus he'd have €50 as holiday spending money and no worries about saving up for a new phone.
But does it seem mean to dress up my old phone as a gift?
Background: DS' old phone was broken (mostly his own silliness -he left it on the side of a football pitch and it got smashed) a couple of months ago and I have refused to replace it partly as I can't really afford to and partly to try to teach him to be more careful. DS is 14.5
