Placed order on amazon
Order was shipped this morning currently in transit
Money came out of bank account yesterday off of my avaliable funds
Checked my bank account today money for order is showing as avaliable funds like I have not been charged atall

All strange

Do amazon take money when item shipped?!

Spoke to bank amounts for order are pending

What does 'amounts for order are pending' mean?

blueskiesandflowers · 17/07/2014 20:54

Due to show on my account tomorrow
Bank can see that they are due to come out

I think it's standard to internet orders to be charged at the point the item is shipped. When else would you expect them to take the money?

blueskiesandflowers · 17/07/2014 21:09

That's what I was saying they took money out of account yest
Now money for order showing back in avaliable balance
It's like they took it then put back

Exactly the same thing happened to me today.

blueskiesandflowers · 17/07/2014 21:29

What are your thoughts nalia?!

I've had this happen online shopping. It's a weird and confusing explanation, they take the funds to check you have them, but they haven't actually taken them yet, so once they see you have the money they leave it in your account then take it again for real.

I've found this out thinking I had to dispute charges when I thought an online retailer had charged me double.

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 17/07/2014 21:58

Amazon charge when the order is shipped. I would check to see if it wasn't sent back from carrier facility
Failing that, it was authorisation charge. I bet you couldn't take that amount out if you tried
*work for them so that's where my knowledge comes from.

Nalia · 18/07/2014 15:42

My item shipped today, but the money has not yet been re-taken from my account.

I wish they would not do this. It's hard to keep track of money if you're not constantly watching your account when money is taken then put back then taken again. If I've seen a transacion go through I assume I've paid and that whats in my account is not earmarked for something else. Then finding I still haven't really paid and am shorter than I thought I was is annoying.

Currently in transit with Amazon, doesn't mean you will get it next day. I have placed orders recently, had confirmation of transit only for it not appear for 3 or 4 days despite being sent via royal mail when delivery should be quicker.

I THINK what is actually happening, is when they send this email, its packed, ready for despatch and is sitting in their depot ready to be loaded up. So its 'in transit' but not yet left their premises.

When it is scanned onto the van, then payment is released and not before. I believe that technically they can't authorise the payment through their system until it physically leaves the building. Lots of places do, but they shouldn't really (for example in case there is a stock shortage or your warehouse burns down).

Also don't forget that bank transactions also don't appear immediately and you can sometimes find they take a day or so to be processed by your bank even though the payment is in process. It is NOT an instant process as everyone seems to think.

blueskiesandflowers · 18/07/2014 16:13

I have just received items no payment has been taken

That will be checked at the end of the day and you will be retrocharged. Unless its with a third party seller

blueskiesandflowers · 18/07/2014 17:11

What's retro charged

RedToothBrush · 18/07/2014 17:12

It'll appear on your bank statement with a date that has passed.

blueskiesandflowers · 18/07/2014 20:13
