To think that its ok to now take DS out? (Chicken pox)

Ds has had chicken pox for nearly 2 weeks. All of the spots have dried up now bar one, on his foot, which is taking its time to crust over. He is normal in himself and every other spot has scabbed or gone completely.

I genuinely dont know at what point its considered safe to take him back out so advice needed!

YANBU definitely. God woman you must have nerves of steel to have stayed in for two weeks!

yes hes fine to go out now, they're really infectious before the spots arrive, so I was never that bothered about taking them out anyway once they were feeling better. not to playgroups or school though, but out to shops, park etc

I agree, fine to go out now.

The Health Protection Agency says that children can go back to school "five days from the onset of rash."

DS1 had 3 spots that just wouldn't crust over. After nearly 2 weeks of going bananas locked in the house, I spoke to the GP. He prescribed antibiotics & said it was probably because DS1's immune system was struggling (the cp had come after a few illnesses and a tonsillectomy).

The last spots cleared quickly, but he said that it was okay to take DS1 out straight away.

I still didn't feel confident enough to send him back to preschool, ect. but I did take him on walks in the woods and similar.

My Doctor said 6 days from the first spot, but I had to take the poxy child when I was picking up the other child from nursery each day, I just waited outside, and the staff brought out the non-poxy child (DS got it, then DD got it 2.5 weeks later). But each time we re-joined society on day 7-8...

I saw a child being taken to school on day 3 of chicken pox. Hmm.
