Game of Thrones Cake Help!

AIBU to ask for your ideas?

I'm going to make dd a Game of a Thrones cake for her birthday. It'll be a two tier round cake, plain iced in white. I have a mini sword which will be plunged through the top of the cake, which will then be liberally covered in edible blood (golden syrup and food colouring, in case you're wondering).

I'm going to make some decapitated heads on sticks and then decorate the cake with various things from the stories. So far, this is my list...

3 dragon egg cookies
1 white chocolate skull with gold icing
1 small vial/pot with wildfire (green stuff)

Can you think of anything else that might be good to add?

I don't want to get into sigils or anything like that as 1. There are too many to fit on a cake and 2. My cake decorating skills are not that good.

perhaps a crown?

AryaOfHouseSnark · 13/07/2014 18:20

Who is her favourite character ? Maybe something associated with them.

iklboo · 13/07/2014 18:21

Ravens
The Wall (along one side)?

DrewsWife · 13/07/2014 18:22

A raven. And a white wooluf

TheFirstOfHerName · 13/07/2014 18:22

The two tier cake with blood sounds great. Could you manage an iron throne?

Namechangearoonie123 · 13/07/2014 18:23

Winter is coming

In fake blood round the outside - look even better if the writing is bad as it's scrawled in blood

SmashleyHop · 13/07/2014 18:23

Maybe her favorite house sigil?

TheFirstOfHerName · 13/07/2014 18:24

Hope link works

WeirdCatLady · 13/07/2014 18:27

I've seen some amazing iron thrones but that would be beyond me.

She loves Tyrion and Arya and Jon.

I thought about putting a crown on top but thought it might be too much with the sword.

I might do a raven, or a rolled up message saying Winter is coming. I need little things really, as I think the blood will go everywhere :)

I would go for red royal icing rather than the golden syrup/colouring option, it would give you more control over the blood flow and it will pool and set where as golden syrup will just keep running off the cake and make a mess.

WeirdCatLady · 13/07/2014 18:35

Would the royal icing set to a matt finish though? I want it to stay shiny. (Never done anything like this before so have no idea)

If you have a local sugar craft shop you should be able to get some piping gel, which would work and stay in place better than syrup. like this

WeirdCatLady · 13/07/2014 19:09

Ooh brilliant, thanks, I've got to go to my lovely cake shop to buy a cake board so will get some from them :)

You HAVE to put reeks willy on there!

ChameleonCircuit · 13/07/2014 19:16

And that post from HaroldLloyd has made me curious enough to d/l series 1 Grin

riskit4abiskit · 13/07/2014 19:27

Haha at reeks willy!

WeirdCatLady · 13/07/2014 19:34

Hehe I DID think about putting a willy on. I could do a PG version where I just make a small box and write 'Property of Theon Greyjoy' on it.

I don't think I could bring myself to make a willy and stick it on my dd's birthday cake ;)

WeirdCatLady · 13/07/2014 19:35

Chameleon, you HAVE to watch GoT, it is by far the best thing on TV

HaroldLloyd · 13/07/2014 19:36

Grin The box is a brilliant idea!

Poor ole Reek.

HaroldLloyd · 13/07/2014 19:37

This is such a good idea btw, bet she will be well chuffed.

Allalonenow · 13/07/2014 19:37

Raven or wolf footprints made in the blood.

Canidae · 13/07/2014 19:38

House words around the cake?

WeirdCatLady · 13/07/2014 19:40

It's not until August 2 but I will post photos :)
