AIBU to think my neighbour is a prat?

My upstairs neighbour is unbelievably rude. He keeps throwing rubbish out his window onto my patio. A couple of weeks ago he emptied an entire ashtray full of fags to rain down. Today there is a used condom.

Who the fuck does that???? How do I best deal with him?
(I went upstairs after ashtray incident and he basically shrugged his shoulders and told me it was a party).

YANBU. Take the condom, and lob it back up there. You may want to don Marigolds.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 05/07/2014 09:08

Post it all back through his letter box.

Staywithme · 05/07/2014 09:08

Pick it all up and shove it through his letter box. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Job done. Grin

Staywithme · 05/07/2014 09:08

Grin xpost

Shock

Holy hell that's vile. I'd be tempted to sellotape all the rubbish onto his front door everytime, or post it through his letterbox, no bagging it first. Dirty fucker.

Hopefully the immature cretin will grow out of this vile phase. In the meantime keep a diary of incidents and take photos of the offending litter.

Do you have a landlord, residents' association or anyone else you can complain to? I would love to have the balls to post the stuff back to him myself if I were in your position, but I would be worried about escalating it.

Haha love stretched cling-film idea. He's on first floor and I am on ground floor, so not sure I can get up there.

He was pretty aggressive when I went to speak to him about the fags, so not sure I feel like I can actually confront him about the condom.

We are all renting privately from same letting agent, so will start documenting with photographic evidence.

Wish calling 101 was an option Euphemia, but I don't think the police would be massively impressed if I waste their time with this.

Oh and I kind of hate him. It's just so fucking disgusting.

giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a drunk guest who tipped the ashtray out? and is the condom definitely his? no way it could have come over a back fence from an alleyway etc? how long has he been there?

then again, some neighbours just are twats and do like, as it were, crapping on their own doorstep........now there's an idea for your revenge! LOL

MellowJello · 05/07/2014 09:43

Phantom, yes, he says ashtray was done by guest, BUT surely any non-horrid human being would when told about this apologise profusely and offer to clean it up? No shrug their shoulders?

Also condom is 99.9999999999% his (or a guest's) given that it is literally right below his window. He had a party again last night. However, the whole didn't know about it thing doesn't really wash either given that the flats are tiny, tiny studio flats. You would know if your mates were shagging in a corner tossing condoms out the window.

Pop it in an envelope stick a stamp in and post it back ?

Flipflops7 · 05/07/2014 10:49

Inform the letting agent.

BigChocFrenzy · 05/07/2014 13:08

Tell the agent. As an LL I consider this unacceptable behaviour - my agents would contact your neighbour within 1 working day and give an official warning.

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 05/07/2014 13:18

I'd post the condom to the letting agent as 'proof'.

Hopefully they'll find it utterly grim and do something about it.

FelineLou · 05/07/2014 13:33

Meantime get a cheap sun parasol and leave it up all the time.

PicandMinx · 05/07/2014 14:00

Agree with others saying tell the agent. Does your lease have a no-smoking clause?

picnicbasketcase · 05/07/2014 14:04

Pick it up using rubber gloves and a pair of barbecue tongs, and fasten it to his door with a drawing pin, with a note saying that if he throws any more revolting waste outside your property you will be reporting him to environmental health / landlord / whoever.

RAFAnderpants · 05/07/2014 16:59

we had similar once and after confrontiong the guy we couldn't sit in our patio as hed stick his credential out and piss down on us or in our patio.

he was evicted after we complained to the LL though.

OP watch out for the rain!!

Sallyingforth · 05/07/2014 17:14

Normally I would say avoid bothering the police with neighbour problems because they have more than enough to deal with already.
But the condom is a serious health issue.
I would report it on 101 AND to the local Council's environmental heath dept.
