Sad Please tell me they're horribly skewed or bent or something.
I've just lost a bit of weight which has taken me down from a 14-16 to a 12-14....I'm pear shaped and have always had a discrepancy between my top and bottom....so now I'm in 14 jeans and 12 tops...quite a small chest.

Anyway tried on some casual tops and jeans in Next...looked in the mirror and feck me...I looked AWFUL!

Big fat hip tyre and plumpy looking back! Double chin the lot!

Are the mirrors horrid or am I just 40? Sad

H+M mirrors are amazing.
I always loose half a stone in there.

londonrach · 30/06/2014 21:01

All mirrors are bad......

Billygoats · 30/06/2014 21:03

Haven't noticed this but have noticed their clothes are odd sizes. I have to buy a size smaller than anywhere else in some items, and even their shoes I go half a size down.

MrsWinnibago · 30/06/2014 21:03

Grumble I know! I've spend a good while looking in those...I don't usually go in Next but saw a top I liked in there last week when I was getting DD new knickers!

I regret it now! I looked like dough! All white and plumpy.

That is why I never buy anything from next! You are right their mirrors are very unflattering.

MrsWinnibago · 30/06/2014 21:04

Billy yes! I picked up a 12 top and it was ginormous! Like a 16....I tried it on in case it was down the cut...but it was just unflattering. It was baggy in the boob area and the rest had no shape.

Eminy thank you! I feel better now!

Debenhams have 'skinny mirrors' in some stores they stretch you so you look all tall and thin!

RumAppleGinger · 30/06/2014 21:10

Can't remember about next but the mirrors/lighting in the Dorothy Perkins' changing rooms are bloody horrible.

Sidge · 30/06/2014 21:12

I don't know about their mirrors but their sizing is bizarre.

Vanity sizing in action.

tobysmum77 · 30/06/2014 21:31

what you mean I haven't really list a whole dress size in the past 15 years and am not really a size 8 in suit jackets? How very dare you.

I think it's because you have to stand close to the mirrors myself.

carlywurly · 30/06/2014 21:32

Oh yes, next mirrors are the absolute worst! Makes my size 10 bum look about six sizes bigger and flabby too.

If something looks half decent in a next mirror I buy it on the reckoning that I'll look like a goddess in real life Grin

JennyCalendar · 30/06/2014 21:51

YANBU. They are terrible. They make me look a foot shorter, 3 stone heavier and incredibly blotchy! The only reason I still go there is for the trousers.

MitMopse · 30/06/2014 21:55

I was in there recently trying on a few swimsuits (argggh). After watching myself, complete with rear view, struggle into those I left a very depressed (and empty handed) woman in need of a gin I can tell you! Glad to see it's not just me.

ihatethecold · 30/06/2014 22:07

Next mirrors are soul destroying.
They highlight every bit of cellulite, every stretch mark and make you look deathly pale.
Hideous.

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 30/06/2014 22:43

I actually cried when I got home from trying on clothes in Next, I looked so awful Sad

BerylStreep · 30/06/2014 22:45

I thought it was just the clothes that were horrible. Maybe it has been the mirrors all this time.

fluffymouse · 30/06/2014 23:52

I've noticed the vanity sizing in next too. Everything there is a size bigger than on the label. I like the mirrors though.

tallwivglasses · 01/07/2014 00:17

I've only ever bought some long trousers online. You've all made me want to go in there now...

Stratter5 · 01/07/2014 00:23

Sainsburys mirrors.

Went in there on Friday. Terrified myself. Really scared witless.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 01/07/2014 00:46

don't even get me started on their lift mirrors - they make me look dead.

MrsWinnibago · 01/07/2014 10:08

I am SO happy it's not that I am fat and old! Grin it's the MIRROR'S fault!
