Dd was at friend's house after school. I told friends mum if puck her up at 4.15, there's an event I want to take her and dd2 to at 4.45. She said she'd drop her home. I made it clear she needed to be home by 4.15 at the latest. They're still not back. If we don't leave now we'll miss the event. Aibu to be pissed off??

No. I guess she may miss the event this time (don't suppose the other mum knows what it is and has taken her straight there?) and not go to that friend's house again after school.

YANBU especially as you offered to pick her up.

Earlybird · 27/06/2014 16:32

I'd be unhappy too - especially if I had been clear about the time. Presumably you haven't had a text or call of explanation?

I have learned (the hard way) to go pick dd up from unreliable friends' homes, rather than sit waiting/fuming. That way, I am more in control - when it matters.

HecatePropylaea · 27/06/2014 16:48

Is she not answering her phone?

It's a bugger when people do not seem to understand that when you say a time, it is because you actually MEAN that time! I don't know why. It's not exactly difficult to understand.

In future, don't let your children go to their friends houses on days when you have somewhere to go to. Not that that helps you today, but it will avoid a repeat.

I hope they show up in time.

They will not make it if she posted at 1626

there may be an explanation - burst tyre etc

YANBU, I hate poor timekeeping too.

Letthemtalk · 27/06/2014 17:24

She arrived at 4.30, straight in the car and made it (queen's baton thingy)
