The Uruguay players seem to be wearing their shirts two sizes too small, which may be a good thing on ripped young sportsmen but can you imagine if it takes off in our pubs, town centres and seaside resorts?

I was just saying the same thing.
I also mentioned my disappointment at the looseness of the shorts. ( old lady perve alert)

Marlinspike · 19/06/2014 22:02

Yes, some rather lovely, well defined torsos on show. A small consolation for the result.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 19/06/2014 22:05

Is it to stop opponents grabbing their shirt? Rugby did it a while ago.
Not just for the ladies. Oh no.

MrsBigginsPieShop · 19/06/2014 22:06

The Uruguay team all looked a bit beefier than the England team too. And one of them had cheekbones you could grate cheese on. Hmmm...

Oh and Yanbu. Uruguayian football team; yes to tight shirts, Brit beer monster belly - please no! Football shirts are hideous material enough without showing every spare inch

AnnaLegovah · 19/06/2014 22:08

Its the style at the moment, taken from rugby. And yes, done to prevent opponents grabbing the shirt so easily. but allows for showing of hard abs too

BlackeyedSusan · 19/06/2014 22:08

me too. great on actual footballers...not so great on wobbly fans.

nancy75 · 19/06/2014 22:10

Just think at least a tight shirt is better than no shirt, which is often seen once the sun comes out, usually accessorised with a can of stella and a fag

nicename · 19/06/2014 22:17

I saw a young woman on the bus today with a similarly styled skin tight top. Even I did a double-take (no foundation garments!).

MrsWinnibago · 19/06/2014 22:23

Grin at "foundation garments"

It's not just Uruguay, seems to be a general trend.

Oh and thank goodness for long shorts. The 70s style really short shorts were awful.

KarinMurphy · 19/06/2014 23:35

It makes me think of this.

I think short shorts are the way to go. I won't have them disrespected. Bring 'em back.
