Was in Disneyland Paris 2 wks ago - and not an Elsa dress to be had in the entire place! Which is saying something as it's 99.9% shops. Loads of Ana dresses.

I think they've missed a trick; maybe they thought Ana was going to be the hero all the girls wanted to emulate, they didn't count on the power of Elsa!

ShelaghTurner · 12/06/2014 12:23

Thank you Offler! :o Just pre-ordered one each for the dds. DD1 will explode!

BolshierAyraStark · 12/06/2014 12:23

Thanks Offler ,going to have one very happy DD.

Offler · 12/06/2014 12:25

I shall have to ask Asda for some commission Wink

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 12/06/2014 12:30

I read online that Disney got stung on the last two movies ordered piles of merchandise and still had piles of it sitting around a year later so with Frozen they "prudently" ordered less, only to be hit by millions of under-8s wanting to buy all the merchandise in the entire world.

allhailqueenmab · 12/06/2014 12:34

It takes 12 / 18 months to line up licensed product to go with a film.
Disney had no idea Frozen was going to catch on in the way it has - and retailers chose not to buy into it hugely. Its winter setting made it hard to sell into spring / summer which, as far as retailers are concerned, means the new ranges that they pile in once the Jan sales are cleared. Frozen was not selected for the SS14 ranges because a. it is wintery looking b. quite a few Disney consumer products have sold in and not sold through recently, burning retailers.
So now they want it, but the time lines are such that it is not instant.
Expect a massive Frozen retail push for Autumn / winter 14.

GoshAnneGorilla · 12/06/2014 12:35

Offler - Thank you soooooooooooooo much. Dd1 will be ecstatic!

I did read that Disney simply didn't expect Frozen to be as huge as it is, that's why there isn't enough merchandise.

ShelaghTurner · 12/06/2014 12:51

What surprises me is that it's older children wanting the stuff as well. Friends with daughters of 9, 10, 11 are all wanting the Frozen clothes etc. And it's the first Disney film in the history of Disney that I have loved as I drink my tea out of my Anna mug, I hate every single other one!

Mum2Pea · 12/06/2014 13:03

Thank you Offler!
Have been checking every few hours for last couple of weeks - was giving up hope!

CrispyFB · 12/06/2014 13:07

Thank you Offler from me too! I could not bring myself to spend £40 + postage even if I could get stock of the Disney store one. DD1 (7) will be just as happy with an Asda one!

Now I have a "situation" as DD2 (5) will be desperate for an Anna dress and it seems Asda don't do them. Help!!

betold · 12/06/2014 13:18

Offler, you are officially a MN hero!

Now, anyone know where I can find an Ana dress??

RedPony · 12/06/2014 14:25

OP it won't let me pm you for some reason? It's this dress. If it's the one you need I can message the lady for you?

'itsy bitsy personalised gifts' on ebay have anna and elsa dresses to order not quite the Disney ones but look lovely

BolshierAyraStark · 12/06/2014 14:55

Asda did do an Anna dress which was equally as beautiful as the Elsa one-that too was out of stock when I last checked...
& never mind 10 & 11 year olds, my friends 17 year old is a little Frozen crazy.

CrispyFB · 12/06/2014 16:04

Amazon seem to have stock of non-official Anna dresses for as little as £16.75 for the 7-8 age range, but there's only ten left. Smyths has LOADS of Frozen stuff.

cleoismycat · 12/06/2014 16:33

thanks redpony but i want the one with the cape and snowflakes!

Mothergothel1111 · 12/06/2014 17:22

I'm making one, can't bear to pay so much for a dress up dress. Just trying to decide if I need the snowflake organz or plain with sparkles..choices choices.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 12/06/2014 18:35

I'm a dressmaker, this was my Elsa gown for my daughter. It cost a flipping fortune in fabric, never mind my time!!!

Frozen
Mothergothel1111 · 12/06/2014 19:06

It's lovely.

I'm cheating, I have a lovely silk dress which I have sized down.
I have a pale blue sparkly organza in my stash, but the snowflake fabric is lovely...or I could spray snowflakes on... I just need sparkly fabric for the bodice ( only sequins will do apparently)

I can't get my head round the arms yet.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 12/06/2014 19:17

For my daughters dress, I cheated a bit with the arms. The actual dress has puffed short sleeves, but I made little arm cuffs with pointy bits over the back of the hand. These are separate so DD can remove them as she sometimes gets annoyed with long sleeves.

I used white organza with tiny little silver stars for the cape, and also overlaid over the bodice. The skirt part is overlaid with silver/blue crystal organza, but it doesn't show up well on the photo.

Lets not talk about her demands for a matching dress and cape for her teddy. Yes, I did spend all evening making a teddy sized version. Sigh.

2.5year old DS adores Frozen!! LuckilyiI don't have a dress sourcing issue, but he'd love the figures!! He had some laminated pictures of them that he plays with constantly! They've been sold out online at the Disney store forever :(

1inAMinion · 13/06/2014 01:47

I ordered an Elsa dress from fancydressfast.com (sorry, am new-not sure how to do links) last Friday. Paid an extra £2 for 1-2 day delivery and it arrived on Monday Smile. It's the deluxe one with cape and snowflakes. Paid £28.95, but has since reduced by a fiver!
