Ok, sorry, I know this has been done to death but this has genuinely furrowed my brow...

Cameron is quoted on BBC news website as saying that 'Birmingham City Council have failed in their duty to parents' over claims of extremism in schools involved in the Trojan Horse hoo-haa.

Erm, have I missed something? Aren't these schools mostly academies and therefore under direct control of the Education Secretary?? As far as I understand, only one of these schools is a state school under LEA control!!

Please someone, tell me that this is the death knell for Gove and his quest for power will finally bite him in the arse...

You have missed something. Of the five schools placed in special measures two are community schools. Another community school was already in special measures. Of the 21 schools on which Ofsted reported only 7 are academies. The other 14 are LA-maintained schools.
