To think I'm going bonkers because I can't be pregnant can I?

I'm on the pill although I can be careless at times with missing one/taking one a bit late.

I've had strange symptoms similar to those I had when I was pregnant first time around. But moreover I'm feeling 'kicks', ok so it must be wind, but I've been getting the feelings every day for a for weeks now and they're very distinctive feel just the same as baby kicks.

But I've taken a test and it was negative, so there's no possible way is there?

It's heavily unlikely give the test, and that your symptoms are more likely attributed to something else. I wonder if pregnancy is something you are focused on at the moment, either because it's something you want a little bit, or are afraid of. I've convinced myself I'm pregnant once or twice and I know it's very hard to shake either with confirmation of a test!

If its bothering you too much maybe see your go for clarification, and to find out what it is.

sleepingdragon · 29/05/2014 09:17

I think you can get false positive pregnancy tests in mid-late pregnancy, because your pregnancy hormones are so high the test kinda gets overloaded so comes back negative. if you were feeling kicks you would be far enough along for this to happen. as the pp said, is probably best to see your gp to confirm either way and put your mind at rest.

heraldgerald · 29/05/2014 11:14

Baby kicks? But that would mean you were quite far along? What about swollen boobs, tiredness, swollen tum? Hope your ok op let us know!

PrincessBabyCat · 29/05/2014 11:17

I get that sometimes, and I'm not pregnant. It's just gas I think from my intestines shifting a bit funny during pregnancy with DD.

EmmanuelWoganberry · 29/05/2014 11:18

Dilute your wee and take another test. I think it’s very unlikely though, more likely wind.

Standinginline · 29/05/2014 11:18

Baby kicks would mean you were more than 15 weeks along !! Must be just wind

Eebahgum · 29/05/2014 13:17

Just wanted to say you're not mad - I'm currently ttc and have had that feeling of kicks too. Even took a test because I couldn't think of anything else that would feel like that but it was negative.

Pyjamaramadrama · 29/05/2014 19:55

Sorry I haven't been back out all day.

I've had other symptoms, nausea, mood swings, bloated tummy, weeing lots, but then I've also had a lot of upset tummy, sorry for tmi, which could be ibs, but which I also had a lot in pregnancy :/

I realise I'd have to be quite far along although I wasn't sure if tests worked properly after so long, also I didn't show with ds until really late.

I know it's one of those daft questions that no one can answer really besides a GP it's not an am I pregnant thread, I wish I'd stop getting the weird twinges though, feels distinctively like kicks yet knowing it can't be.

I know deep down I'm not, perhaps it's wishful thinking although not ttc.

That said ,my first sign for all my pregnancies was trapped wind / indigestion which can feel like stirring down below. I remember when I was about 9 weeks along and where I had so much trapped wind it caused my stomach to protrude out in an odd shape. I thought it was the baby initially !!

MrsDiesel · 30/05/2014 08:38

I get that sensation a lot I am convinced there is a baby in there some days but nothing has appeared yet. Must be trapped wind for me!

If you are having IBS symptoms I would assume it is related to that.

DragonMamma · 30/05/2014 08:41

I get these 'kicks' regularly - like the early ones in pregnancy but despite having them for god knows how long, no baby has popped out yet.

Like you it's made me paranoid in the past, especially when my period was late!

Pyjamaramadrama · 30/05/2014 09:25

Thanks all, makes me wonder whether when I really was pregnant with ds I was feeling kicks half the time or wind!

I've had those weird "kicks" before, its very weird when you know theres no chance of pregnancy.

meditrina · 30/05/2014 09:47

Whilst you are at the GP, talk about contraception.

You said in OP that you have missed pills, and in later post that you have had a number of tummy upsets. Those interruptions coukd easily put you at risk of pregnancy, and it would be worth seeing if you would be better suited to a method which you do not have to remember daily.
