We have been instructed on what should be included in our email "signature" today.

It must include our email address .

Someone save me with other ridiculous policies.

I used to think that was daft but it actually makes sense in case someone has a printout of your email to them

What's wrong with that? Sometimes email addresses don't appear in full at the top.

If you press reply you can copy and paste the time date and exact detail of the email.

If you need to reply surely you just press reply or add new contact?

Once there was an attendance problem.

They introduced a new and very prescriptive attendance management policy.

People got stressed.

Attendance dropped.

Sometimes my boss asks me to follow up on stuff for her. She gives me a print out of an email exchange...

Perhaps not all of your customers are used to using email? Don't know if you are public facing but seems harmless to me and anyway my bugbear is emails with incomplete signatures. Amazing how many people inc suppliers don't have email sigs with basic info like phone numbers on them.

My manager once wanted to go through my inbox with me & show me how to organise it
As she was nearing retirement & had no clue & I was 24 I declined

It's mainly internal email you input the intended sendee's surname into the address bar and press control and K and it brings up a list of people with that surname.

External can just reply to me.

I was once a PA to someone who'd make me print out their entire inbox ( plus attachments) every day so that she could sit and manually write a tick on the ones she had dealt with.id be stood at the printer for at least an hour every morning. Colossal waste of time.
