to think I can pack up and move in 2 days

So yeah, I've been a bit lazy with packing. I only have small items like microwave, tvs and clothes...dvds etc.

I really want to go and see a friend this evening but that would only leave me with tomorrow evening and Friday.

I only live in a small flat so not a huge amount to move right?

Anyone got any motivational words for me to get off my ass?

Start now. Less to do on the day of the move

I'm doing the same thing, moving from a small flat to another slightly larger flat on Saturday. I half packed today, took an hour and now I'm having an extended (read: three hour) tea break. I need to pack two suitcases and I'm done.
Meh I'll do it after work tomorrow.
Putting the kettle back on.
I'm not overly helpful am I?

MinesAPintOfTea · 28/05/2014 16:10

Could your friend come to you, get in a take away and do it together?

AMumInScotland · 28/05/2014 16:17

You could spend an hour or two on it before you go out this evening. That could be enough to make a real stab at it, if you only have a few bits and pieces.

I just don't seem to have the energy at all :(

a 2 day pack and move........ when you have No energy now..... disaster in the making.

Do a Little Now. and then a little more every couple of hours. it will help and then do your 2 day flip out move

Inertia · 28/05/2014 16:35

Do it now! Get off mumsnet :)

Inertia · 28/05/2014 16:36

And get a plan together- perhaps aim to pack one room tonight.

Iloveonionchutney · 28/05/2014 16:36

It can be done, I viewed my current house 10pm on a Wednesday night, only having decided that day we needed to move (dodgy landlord and condemned electrics with a 3 month old!) we were packed up and were in by the Friday morning, a 2 bed house packed and moved in a day!

notaflamingclue · 28/05/2014 16:45

We moved at the end of February. DD's first birthday was on the Tuesday and we had family over for a little party. They were all amazed because it hardly looked as if we were moving (we'd packed a few books, but that was it).
We hired the van on the Thursday and moved the big stuff. We took the rest on the Friday in cars.
I'd say yes it can be done....but it isn't much fun! Mind you we only moved half a mile down the road. And the biggest time-consumer is the unpacking the other end.

Cornettoninja · 28/05/2014 16:49

If you have the energy to go out you have the energy to make a dent in the packing. Like you said you don't have too much so set yourself so much to finish and do it.

You'll feel so much better for it and there's nothing worse than having to cut corners because you've left it too long.

Off you pop.

CiderLover · 28/05/2014 16:58

Cornetto yo sound like my Girlfriend!

You are right though.

I like the idea of doing it room by room, I have been doing it all over the place and not knowing where to start so thanks for that x

These things take as long as you've got - if you leave it till the last minute, you'll get it done somehow, but it probably won't be very organised and you might regret it when you can't find anything in your new place!

calculatorsatdawn · 28/05/2014 17:08

I moved recently and didn't bother packing anything just picked up armfulls of stuff put it in the van and took it out at the other end. drove my mother up the wall but it worked. Don't bother would be my suggestion. go out and have a laugh, you have to move so it will get done. enjoy yourself Grin
