...all down one side, down to the white undercoat.

The damn thing is only a couple of months old. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. And breathe.

There are some twatty people in this world who do stupid things.

Content yourself that the moron who did this will [hopefully] get a dose of his/her own twattishness at some point in their life.

You're insured?

Yambabe · 27/05/2014 14:22

God I would be livid.

Where was it?

I have to admit I have sometimes often fantasised about doing the same to my arrogant neighbour when yet again he has parked across my driveway so I can't get in or out because he is too crap to get on his own drive without scratching his shiny vehicle. Never actually have though......

ICanSeeTheSun · 27/05/2014 14:23

Yanbu.

Where was the car parked, the only reason I ask is because hopefully it was in a public place with CCTV.

If not get scratch repair from halfords make sure you match the colour, if you don't feel confident ask a garage how much the repair would be.

mrsbucketxx · 27/05/2014 14:26

i would get chips away to fix it i wouldn't attempt yourself it can make it look even worse.

fuckers that's what they are

ComposHat · 27/05/2014 14:33

Yep, get a professional to do it.

I tried touching up some paint using special mixed up stuff (not the Halfrauds crap) and it looked dreadful.

wowfudge · 27/05/2014 15:06

I've got someone looking at CCTV pictures from the car park at work - it's just possible someone has squeezed along the side of the car and caught the paintwork with a zip or a metal part on a bag, but I think it is more likely to have been someone who walked past it when it was parked outside the house and deliberate.

Good call on Chips Away mrsbucket - in my anger I had forgotten about the likes of them!

I am insured, of course, however I would prefer not to lose my no claims bonus over something like this. I also think that if I don't get it sorted out, it's the kind of thing that makes people less careful around your car in car parks, etc.

I will also dial 101 this evening and let the police know in case there's been a spate of this kind of thing in our area and possibly some CCTV. I hate to say it, because I think teenagers get blamed for all sorts of things for no reason, but yesterday evening a large group walked past (we live on a main road) and a couple of them hung back as the group went by, then suddenly moved off and caught up with the others when I stood up and walked to the window. It may have been them.

Don't understand mindless vandalism in the slightest.

Once I had my back tyre slashed, AND the spare tyre from underneath the car stolen at the same time !!! Livid was not the word.

Impatientismymiddlename · 27/05/2014 15:30

My previous car was keyed when I had only owned it for a few months, bloody little fuckers !

TheUnburnt · 27/05/2014 15:33

This happened to my DSD, her car was only a few months old AND it was on the driveway! I think some people see a brand new car and can't control their jealousy. Hmm

This isn't really an AIBU....you would be weird if you weren't bothered. Grin

Joylin · 27/05/2014 20:03

Depends on where you were parked. It took all my restraint not to key the cars of selfish bastards who blocked footpaths forcing me to risk my babies life by pushing the pram on a very busy main road. If you were blocking prams or wheelchairs, you didn't get nearly what you deserved. If you were parking considerately, then yanbu.

curlyHedgehog · 27/05/2014 20:10

Yanbu. Scum key cars Angry

Charlieboo30 · 27/05/2014 20:12

I would just be so upset by this. Mine is 3 months old and in the bodyshop today for a stone chip repairing. It's really deep and dented it.

I tried the proper touch up paint direct from the manufacturer and it looked bloody awful! They told me if it was deep (down to metal) I should get it fixed ASAP as it can rust. It's cost me £200 and this is just for a 3cm chip.

I think what others have said is right. Some people are just overcome with jealousy!

passwordchange · 28/05/2014 09:09

Really Joylin? You would vandalise a car just because it was inconsiderately parked? What a nice piece of work you are.

Yes, it is annoying when people park on pavements and I can't get my pram past. I would NEVER consider damaging the cars though. And it's a bit extreme to say 'risk my babies life' - surely there is a pavement on the other side of the road you could use?
