Ordered pair of shoes from next. They were for work, ballerina type but more substantial, cost £42. I have had them for just 5 was and already the hills have collapsed and I have a hole in the bottom of one of the shoes, small but letting water in.

AIBU to return them?? Sorry about the manky pic lol

Yes return them, do you have the receipt?

AlpacaLypse · 26/05/2014 13:11

Yanbu, at that price I'd expect them to last at least one full season. Unless you've been fell-running or something like that in them!

iamdivergent · 26/05/2014 13:14

No just walking about a mile and back to work, have desk job. No receipt but ordered via directory so there is a record of me buying them

I was quite annoyed at them only lasting for a short period of time tbh.

Definitely return them - I am the queen of returning items and for that reason tend to shop more with companies with good track record of no quibble returns such as John lewis, boden and gap to name a few, Next have also been good in the past too , occasionally shops have argued the 'its over 28 days ' but I argue back that I do not expect a pair of shoes / clothing to only last 1 month - that usually works ...
Good luck

Thanks going to return them tomorrow will let you know how I get on!

Definitely return especially if you ordered via directory. Just fill in a contact form online and someone will call you within a few days. I recently returned a pair of jeans that were 4 months old. The material had frayed vertically in several places and had left holes. They refunded with no quibbles. I generally order online from Next as their directory customer service is loads better than in store.

Not NEXT but I bought a pair of high heeled knee high boots from Wallis (many years ago) in around the September time

Wore them day in day out to work, and in the evenings - I flipping LOVED those boots

One of the heels snapped in half after about 7 months Sad

Took them back and showed the SA and she refunded me no questions asked Shock Shock

I would most definitely take yours back and expect a full refund, 5 weeks is no time at all.

TheDudess · 26/05/2014 14:10

I used to work in NEXT and I've have given you a refund for those. They look faulty so you wouldn't need a receipt.

TheDudess · 26/05/2014 14:15

Some people used to try and return some proper mangy things and were blatantly trying it on:

"I've had this top for three years and when I spilt bleach on it the colour came out so it must be faulty" No, it's not faulty, your daft, go away.

Someone once did a poop in the bin in the changing room once. No joke.

Many many years ago I took a pair of shoes back to Russel & Bromley because the heel was coming loose - it moved backwards and forwards as you walked. This is what the man said "well, it looks as though you have been walking in them". They refused a refund and said it was because I'd used them for walking.

I was only about 19 and had saved up for those shoes so I wrote to Head Office and returned the shoes in their box. They sent ever such a nice letter and cheque - a proper hand written cheque. Must have been about 35 years ago though.
