To be annoyed that plumber used our stuff?

We're paying a builder £65k for our extension, which is obviously a fair amount! Got to house today and plumber has installed the sink (great) but has used nearly the entire tube of sealant that I'd bought to seal the shower cubicle (we are tiling and finishing it). It had been unopened and clearly with the rest of our stuff in a corner - they know it's ours as they've taken all their stuff.

AIBU to think that if we are paying them they should provide their own materials?! Now I have to go out and buy more which is a) not cheap and b) flipping inconvenient, as I can't finish it til I've been to B&Q!!

Have you paid them? I'd knock a tenner off for going to replace it.

Just check you are not billed for it at the end.

If they needed it, wasn't it better that they used the stuff there? Rather than saying 'We can't do anything else until we get a tube of XXXXX' and marching off for a few days.

It would certainly not be any cheaper if they had bought it.

Make sure it's noted next time when you chat to your builder.

I wouldn't be narked over a tube of sealant but I'm meh about such things.

Dh is a plumber and says you're right to be pissed off and your chap should be more organised.

He would bill you for materials anyway so what is the problem?
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and it's more about you feeling a bit violated that he rummaged round and just helped himself?

Surely he should have has it with him? If I had a plumber I wouldn't have any in the house so what would he have done then??
