To want to live in a world where...

...people burst into random songs like in musicals? Or even better sang everything rather speaking a la Evita, Les Mis & JCS?

BTW I am tone deaf. But I loves a good musical me, they're my guilty pleasure! Makes me quite sad to watch one then go back to a life where people must speak Grin

God no. I just skipped a whole episode of Buffy on Netflix because it was a musical one and read the plot on Wiki instead.
Most musicals make me cringe at best and, at worst, make me want to rip my own skin off. Bleurghhh

CrohnicallyHungry · 21/05/2014 22:29

YANBU. Provided I somehow miraculously know all the words and dance steps as people do in musicals.

In reality though, I think everyone would be linking arms and swaying sadly in time to Memory or similar, and I'd burst in tap dancing to 'consider yourself... at home'

CrohnicallyHungry · 21/05/2014 22:31

Remember the musical episode of scrubs? I felt so sorry for the woman in that, after she was fixed and went back to a boring, speaking life.

Oh and I do randomly burst into song. Thankfully some of my colleagues get me and join in, otherwise I'd look daft.

cherry219 · 21/05/2014 22:31

YANBU. Life would be infinitely better.

Objection - YABU. That's the BEST Buffy episode Grin

EBearhug · 21/05/2014 22:35

Yes, when I've been in a good mood, I have failed to understand why my colleagues haven't leapt up from their seats in a choreographed, timed manner, leaping over the desks, singing in a mass chorus.

I suspect my colleagues wouldn't quite manage to live up to my imagination by a very long margin, so it's probably best it all stays in my head like all the other fantasies I have.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/05/2014 22:36

and they always know all the words!

Misfitless · 21/05/2014 22:36

Couldn't agree more...I sometimes do this with DCs ie sing to each other instead of just plain old, boring talking.

Now, I put it to you, IsChippy, imagine a world where people burst into random songs....and....

wear fancy dress! Grin

How much cheerier would we all feel, and how much more colourful would the world be, if, instead of putting on jeans/leggins/whatever and boring old top...we dressed in whatever fancy dress outfit took your fancy that morning?

Imagine doing the school run, and walking past the incredible hulk, spiderman, bat girl, Woody from Toy Story and maybe Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz...or a dalmation puppy that's a person, not a real puppy!!

EBearhug · 21/05/2014 22:37

Actually, I've been involved with a writing a management handbook. They need some ideas to make it different and stand out...

{ writes budget justification for compulsory dance and singing lessons for the entire workforce }

Misfitless · 21/05/2014 22:39

And fancy dress outfits, too, I hope, EBearhug?

EBearhug · 21/05/2014 22:41

I'm not sure about the fancy dress costumes until they've sorted out the air con and we can stay in the building without people risking heat exhaustion. (Am also a first aider. Have to consider my busyness.)

WooWooOwl · 21/05/2014 22:44

YANBU.

It could be like that Disney film Enchanted.

Rommell · 21/05/2014 22:47

I also think YANBU but would extend the singing and dancing to animals, trees and flowers as well.

extremepie · 21/05/2014 23:45

I love that scrubs episode!

'Its guy love between 2 guuuuuuuuys' :D

BackforGood · 22/05/2014 00:06

YANBU Chippy.

You can come and live with us - we frequently burst into random song in this house despite it winding my dh up no end. You don't have to know the words, just "la" along or make up your own words. Commonly I'll use a familiar tune to sing things I need to say to my dc Grin

lavenderhoney · 22/05/2014 00:11

Oh yes! I had a slight difference of opinion with the religious TA at school, whom told me evolution was rubbish and it was FACT that God made everything. And god was male. Did I have a problem with that? Yes, I did!

I kept wanting to burst into phil Collins and " Jesus he knows me" with all the parents throwing some moves:)

I was raised watching old musicals and often wish for some dancing:)

Icimoi · 22/05/2014 00:16

It would be quite a laff. We'd all have to go around with our own orchestras ready to provide the backing music at a moment's notice.

Though it might be a bit tough on the orchestra members not being allowed to burst into song on their own accounts.
