Mirena coil out?!

I just tried in the bathroom but DS needed a pee so disturbed me!!

I hate the thing. Cant loose weight, skin is horrible, tired all the time, irritated a lot (although I have got an exam in less than 48 hrs so more irritable than usual) i get a lot of random cramping and pain too.

Anyone had experiences like this? Anyone successfully removed their own mirena?!!

Just go to the GP!

For lord's sake, don't risk mutilating yourself!!

redexpat · 20/05/2014 20:33

ow ow ow YY to GP!

squirrel996 · 20/05/2014 21:19

They couldn't find mine! Had to go back twice and then have an ultrasound to make sure it was still there! Eventually after about the 5th time the doctor found it.

Eek!! You'll end up with a crabbiepattie kebab if you do that!! Call the GP in the morning and let them have a rummage for it.

Taking it out doesn't hurt, just relax. But get the nurse to do it, or at least your DP

Hiya, I removed mine in the early hours of this morning, I found the threads and have it a go and it was easy!!! My only regret apart from having the damn thing fitted in the first place is that I didn't do it sooner!!

I had discussed removal with a gp at my surgery and she said it would have to be a Dr who was trained to fit them or I would have to wait until they held their coil clinic (they do em in bulk when loads of women are on the list)

Anyway I'd tried a few times to get an apt with one of the gps but to no avail - one's on maternity another is on hold for a,couple of months n because of this you can't get near the others.

It didn't hurt a bit (it caised me constant discomfort anyway)and it came out surprisingly easy.

Haven't told dh yet coz he was pushing zeds but I feel better - he kept telling me to go n get it out anyway coz it was making me miserable so he'll be pleased Smile

Dunno what problems it caused you but I think I had all the negative side effects that peeps list on these forums -

Weight gain - I lost all my baby weight plus an extra 2 stone soon after our dd was born 3 n a half years ago but I've gained nearly 2 stone in a yr n 2 months (it was fitted March 2013) despite no change in diet and being more active, bloatedness (I'm not the heaviest I've ever been but my clothes from when I was a bit bigger don't even fit coz I'm soooo bloated)
lethargy, moods swings, depression n anxiety (my dh, ds and dd will be pleased to have the old me back),
really rotten spotty skin, extra greasy hair, more sweaty,
occasional discharge and frequent thrush (sorry tmi)
ovarian pain and constant cramps,
painful skin all over body,
constant sore boobs,
aches n pains,
TOTAL loss of libido Blush - no point in having it anyway eh?,
blurry vision and generally feeling unwell,
I even get that horrendous bone pain in my lower leg that peeps have been going on about on here.

I thought I was going mad but I know it's been down to mirena, I feel like I've lost a year and 2 months of my life and feel like I've missed out on my hubby and kids - Well no more, we're getting me back Smile

Oh on a positive note it was good for my heavy (not painful) periods but I'd rather have a day or two of that than what I've went through

Good luck, I hope you get sorted xxx

Glad that ended well. Have a spa day!

Afternoon ladies. I went to see the practice nurse this morning. Pestered her to remove it, and like jennieadams, had all those symptoms so just reeled them off. anyway, she went to talk to the Dr who agreed, "If the lady wants it out that much, just take it out for her and get her to come and see me next week about new contraception"

Well, Its out :-)

I immediately felt a sense of relief, and my tummy doesn't feel as bloated!

I've been going to the gym and working out real hard and watching what I eat, with no movement on the scale whatsoever!! Im 165 atm. Was 140 pre preg. Even after having DS1 I went back doen to 148. But since having this mirena in, ive felt bloated, headachey, foggy, irritable, moody, anxiety, cramps, horrible discharge, and in the last three weeks its all gotten worse, and ive started with this all over body itching!! I could be going for it on the rowing machine and need to stop every couple of minutes to scratch and itch!!

So Now I'm thinking of sterilisation. I have three children and am quite happy with them!! I don't want any more!! I have a career to think about now.

Teaching exam tomorrow...wish me luck!!
