To suspect I might be pregnant, even though..

..I haven't missed any periods, and tested negative?
Last period was last week.
But, I have umpteen symptoms, including:
A little bump that starts low (so not like a 'dinner baby').
Always hungry/thirsty/tired.
Need a wee all the time. Wee sort of stronger than usual too.
Sensitive sense of smell, off lots of foods. Finding perfume too strong.
Headaches (I always got headaches when pregnant).
DH commented that my boobs have grown (a few months ago Shock).
I have a heavy pressure feeling in my abdomen.
I even keep thinking I can feel little movements!

I am going to my doctor in the morning anyway, but has anyone out there ever been pregnant and still got periods and tested negative?
We aren't planning to have another child (have three already and the youngest is 7), although we could probably get used to the idea.. Confused I'm also worried that if I'm not pregnant there might be some kind of health issue causing all these symptoms. Pregnancy would be the best cause I suppose.

It is possible, but I had all the above a few months ago and it turned out to be IBS/stress! I even had the metallic taste in my mouth and felt sick all the time.

Ponkypink · 15/05/2014 21:42

I got a negative test the first time I tested when pregnant with dd1. However I wouldn't get your hopes up yet, and I would check for maybe a mild UTI as well when you are at GP. Hoping you get the outcome you want though!

Berryglitter · 15/05/2014 21:51

I had ibs and a mild uti very recently, brought on all the same symptoms. I was panicking as I'm on the depo injection and have very recently split from my partner.

My only advice is go to the doctors. That's the only way to tell. Hope all goes well for you.

AlfAlf · 15/05/2014 21:55

Thanks tabvase. What makes you say it's possible, do you know of cases of actual pregnancy with periods etc? Yes, I'm thinking could be some kind of stomach/bowel or gynaecological issue.

Thanks Ponky, at what stage in your pregnancy was the false negative?

How was that period.

But you do know that even if your are or not, you will have to tell us all now.

I highly doubt it, as if you had a normal period you wouldn't have ovulated yet, but there again you could get pregnant is you ovulate early/ later.

AlfAlf · 15/05/2014 21:57

Thanks Berry. Were the IBS and uti resolved easily?

OP posts:
AlfAlf · 15/05/2014 22:01

ICanSeeTheSun, the period was quite heavy for three days, then stopped for a day, then started again for the last day. So not completely normal. If I'm pregnant I'm thinking it predates the last few periods at least.
I will report back in the morning for sure!

Yes, a course of antibiotics for the uti and advice on ibs as it's stress related so not much the doctor can do to manage it in the long term.

Have a chat with the doctor when you see them, if you're worried about pregnancy get them to do bloods for it to rule it out. Don't stress as you'll make things worse, easier said than done I know.

Hope you're ok.

Well bother anyway, I waited over an hour today and never got to see the doctor. My GP operates on a bizarre first-come basis rather than appointments. I had to leave or I'd have been late for a job, I was nearly in tears of frustration at the thought I'll have to wait until after the weekend now :(
I need to change to another practice!

Ooh that's interesting and scary coldlightofday. Seems to run in your family!
It would be quite an upheaval to go back to being at home with a tiny baby. Anyway it's probably 'just' IBS/uti...
I forgot to add to my list of symptoms that I got what felt like Braxton hicks while hanging the laundry the other day. I felt my belly and it had gone really hard all over and everything Hmm

I'm going to try to forget all about this until I get to the GP.

Aw Alf that's rubbish Sad

What an odd system Hmm

I'd be there queing at the door on Monday!

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 16/05/2014 17:16

Have you got a doppler you could try?

itsmeitscathy · 16/05/2014 23:02

Please make sure you see your doctor, it will be nothing I'm sure but the bump, running to the loo etc could be signs of other issues which require follow up.

BooBoo68 · 17/05/2014 08:29

Within 24 hours of a BFP pregnancy test result, I collapsed in severe pain. My pregnancy was further along than realised as I'd had a bleed at usual time of month. Unfortunately it was ectopic & not viable.
I'd echo the advice to see your Doctor & have your symptoms checked out asap.

CrayolaCocaColaRocknRolla · 17/05/2014 10:32

That sounds like a phantom pregnancy, or ectopic, I really would go to a GP.

AlfAlf · 22/05/2014 09:10

Well it doesn't look like I'm pregnant anyway.
GP did another test and that was negative, she also examined my belly and couldn't feel anything unusual. She doesn't think I have a uti either.
She's referred me for an ultrasound.
