to find squirrels really entertaining?

I put a seed feeder and an Apple feeder on the tree outside my dining room window to watch the birds but instead we have a squirrel

It has wrecked the seed feeder and has now worked out how to hang upside down and yank the Apple feeder chain until it can catch the Apple and take chunks out of it

It has six quite swollen nipples so I assume it has baby squirrels somewhere, Awwww

My daughter, youngest son and myself have had hours of entertainment out of this. It's just lovely! She keeps looking at us through the window too and has a little groom :)

They're lovely although they do steal absolutely everything.

We used to have them come onto our balcony and they'd take nuts from your hand.

Yanbu, they are brilliant.

I love ours, they have us trained to give them biscuits when they sit on the doorstep, will take a quarter out of my hand now

I like watching squirrels too. We don't have a resident squirrel, but we are doing well for robins, thrushes and sparrows. I expect a good crop of veg this year as the thrushes are doing a brilliant job of catching slugs and snails.

I love squirrels, they are such clever little creatures, but they can be v aggressive. Once a v brazen one came up to me when I sat on a bench eating a sandwich and he clearly wanted some so I proceeded to feed him little bits but when it was all gone he looked v annoyed and I was genuinely scared of him ! Ridiculous but he looked like he was readying himself to pounce on me !

I can see two from here. One is digging in the lawn and the other is swinging off the fat ball feeder. I quite like them and the birds have more than enough put out for them anyway.

Better than the TV.

We also have visiting Foxes each with their own personality. Scabby, Handsome,Limpy etc...

Because the field opposite has opted for wheat rather than oil seed this year, I can also see the hares

I love nature. I didn't ever feel so peaceful until I appreciated it
Is this an age thing?

Though I was brought up in a place that had deer [it wore posh] and I always missed it when I moved away..

My DB has deer in his garden and Glis Glis in his loft. < well posh>

I have a lower spec of wildlife.

I have 2 pairs of Robins

They are in love

One of the males came within inches of jumping on my hand when I was weeding. I was turning it over and he was pecking out the grubs.

In a previous house's garden, I once saw a squirrel making off with a whole fat ball, still in the net bag, carrying it like a bag of swag

I tried increasingly complicated "squirrel-proof" contraptions using wire coat-hangers & enjoyed watching them puzzling over the latest version.

No squirrels where I live now - not enough mature trees

We have some tame ones that will come out of the trees and eat stuff out of your hand at our local park, they are really cool. If you ever feel like watching red squirrels there is an amazing cafe in the Scottish highlands where there is a large window you can sit at and watch them, whilst stuffing you face with cake

My Greyhound finds them highly entertaining too, but in a different way.

Is your local park in the NorthWest Pat. I went to one up there and the squirrels would run up your trousers. Or sit on your knee.

No not northwest, southwest. It's sort of a park/arboretum.

These ones will climb up your trousers too!

If any squiirel-lovers ever visit Boston, USA, go to Boston Common the huge park in the city centre; the squirrels there are so tame they'll climb all over you

Mind you, it was also an American squirrel which came begging for a bit of my sandwich. It held it ever so prettily in its cute little paws, twitched its lovely bushy tail ... and then the little bastard BIT ME really, really deeply for no reason at all; there was blood everywhere

Luckily, it seems that squirrels don't usually carry rabies ...

I love Boston. Great trip with DH prior to DC. Never been back mainly because of DC.

Sparkling are you talking about that park in Chester by the river with the boats. I was very to see how cheeky the squirrels there are.

Yes While Grosvenor Park. They are very, very cheeky. I notice last time we went lots of 'Do not feed the squirrels' signs. They are tame.

I loved the urban myths about squirrels on crack which did the rounds a few years ago.
