I've had to send off an email to request some music from a high-tech workplace. Got a reply back saying one piece wasn't available, and asking for an alternative. 5 seconds of Google reveals that the artist has posted a free (free as in beer, as well as free as in speech) version on their website, in a DRM-free mp3, with full permission from the artist for its use. Great!

So, an hour later, I get another email, informing me that they can't use mp3s, as their music comes from iTunes. I'll have to provide the mp3 on a CD, take it to them, then rip it to iTunes, as an mp3.

Short of responding with "My name is MBT, you killed my faith in your overpriced services, prepare to die", there's not much I can do bar kowtowing to idiocy.

Can't you just email them the mp3 and get them to rip it?

Not sure I'm really seeing the issue but you sound very annoyed so have a deep breath and possibly check whether the sun's over the yardarm...!

Cant you convert it to a WAA file? Easy enough to do if run itunes on your PC.

The issue isn't getting the mp3 to the company. The issue is they're supposed to be clued-up when it comes to music and tech (since it's their job), and are trying to tell me that iTunes can't play mp3 files. So, I need to make an audio CD of the mp3 (probably using my copy of iTunes) and physically take it to them, so they can rip the audio CD to an mp3, which they'll then use iTunes to play.

My dear nephew could manage this task. He's 7. The hardest part would be tearing him away from Minecraft long enough to get him to click the link that I sent him.

Tbh if I got this annoyed at work by people being a bit crap at their jobs I'd have imploded years ago!
