To ask if anyone knows anything about these careers?

Ok maybe not strictly an AIBU but desperately need some traffic & responses!

I am looking into going into either physiotherapy or osteopathy, both seem good but it looks like physio is a more stable career option if maybe slightly less lucrative?

Both similar areas and both require degrees - does anyone know anything about either of these that might help me choose between them? I feel like osteopathy is more up my street as I am more interested in musculoskeletal movement/manipulation etc and I feel like phyisotherapy is more all encompassing?

Am I right? Need sons help and more info about both of these!

Have 2 children so also will need to think about the structure if the degrees available and what is more flexible with hours, it seems like there is so much involved with placements etc that doing physio would be very difficult to make work :/

Help!

There's also a real shortage of jobs for physio's at the moment - about twice the number of graduates as actual jobs, and the budget keeps getting smaller so it's unlikely to change in the near future.

On the plus side, you can specialise in a particular area if you want to; DM is a musculoskeletal specialist with an emphasis on orthopedics. She also specialises in dance injuries (mostly my fault!). You have to have the overall training too, but you can pick and choose your specialties to a certain degree.

Hmm that's a good point about the job shortage, I read somewhere that 95% of osteopaths have a job within 3 months of graduating? Anyone have any experience of this? I really want to do something I can actually get a job in when I'm finished otherwise its a lot of hard work for no reason!
