He's yabu. Yes Facebook knows a lot about people but that information is only accessible to others if they choose to not have strong security settings. I may reveal real names on Facebook and share pictures but only with friends and honestly mnhq knows more about me in terms of my views, what I like to eat, family problems etc. In fact as I've entered product tests they also know my full name, address and dob.

I don't really understand why facebook is singled out. Take responsibility for your own online security.

Everything on FB is stuff that users have put there about themselves....Facebook are not sponsoring minions to spy on users and reveal all DMstylee to the world

If you don't like it don't join, but I really don't get all the holier than thou against people who do use it.

Except the article shows explicitly that it doesn't know anything about you. A little techy programme invented by some sweaty palmed geek who still lives with his mammy looks at info you choose to post on FB and draws suppositions and hypotheses from it. Which may or may not be true.

Mumsnet is now throwing adverts from sites in that 3rd country at me. Facebook is not.

YY, Drank. Facebook is the easiest, fastest way to stay connected to my international family and friends, which is why I am on it, OP. You take the risk wherever you go on the internet, if you so choose to disclose things about yourself with minimum security.

with fb nothing you put on there is totally private, it can all be hacked if someone wants to and all your photos fb can use

that is a choice people make but look how many threads are started on here regarding fb it has changed the way many people communicate if you want your life on line put it on but you have to be aware that it may come back to haunt you
