to quite like Facebook actually?

I see so many people on here saying that deleting their Facebook account was the best thing they ever did and how they don't miss it and feel so much better for it. People often refer to it as evil and the very devil.

I just sincerely and honestly don't understand why Fb is so awful?

Please please enlighten me!

I like it too. I have a window into the lives of my dsis in Australia, my best friend who lives across the country, people that I am very fond of but do not live near enough to see in person.

I hide irritating people, but my friends are mostly nice. I use it to arrange stuff. It works for me.

I like it too. I have only a few people on it and mostly people I like (some I've had to add for strategic reasons). I have a laugh on it. None of my fb friends post horrible/racist/abusive stuff, so it's all fine!

I have only been on fb for about a month and am having great fun reconnecting with school and uni friends, and have joined a local history group from my hometown.

I have realized a couple of friends are into crystals and woo, and use hun a lot.

I prefer Twitter

yeah I like it too! I have had an account for eons & haven't had any facebook related dramas. My fb friends are people I actually like so that probably helps!

I have a lot of friends and family in different towns/Countries so I would miss seeing their photos and news if I deleted it. If I find anyone being really irritating I either delete them or just hide their posts.

I just got sick of the white noise. And I didn't want certain 'friends' knowing I'd commented on such and such or liked whatever. Yes I know I can faff about with the privacy settings and hide posts and whatever but I couldn't be arsed. I also found out certain things about some people that I wish I hadn't and the fact it's implicated in so much unsavoury activities also puts me off.

Appreciate that others feel differently of course. I'll just stick to email and texts.

But I only have close friends and family on there who I actually care about so I'm pleased and happy for them when they post good news and don't think posts about school reports and things like that are boasting or annoying

If someone annoys me on there, I just unfriend them.

Yes I quite like Facebook in that you can loosleykeep in touch with people such as friends from school university etc that you will probably never arrange to meet also I have cousins in Australia and friends and it's a nice way of seeing what they are up to. Also my son was recently diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder and there are some closed groups on there which have parents with children with similar condition so its nice, talking to people in the same position these are the reasons I use Facebook.

I like it too and use it daily for loads of reasons.

Got a PTA organising group - eg who will go and get milk for refreshments stall.

General PTA group - for please come to event posts.

Updating my family who are all over the world on what dc's/we have been up to.

Keeping up with what others have been doing.

Laughing at certain peoples posts - "how wonderful is my pfb" when I know they have been called into school as they haven't been so wonderfully behaved that day.

Although somehow my mil has managed to friend me - think my dd must have clicked on accept when she was watching a video of my friends new adorable puppy.

I find fb a sort of bizarro world

I find people who are hilariously funny in RL are quite often DREFFLE on fb. And-jeeez- the boasting!!

have to say that's my experience a lot of the time. Tho I do like keeping in touch with friends/family who've emigrated or live a way away etc it's the people round the corner I can't fucking stand

I live in America, my entire family is in England, and Facebook is absolutely essential for providing photo updates of my kids, especially when the time difference doesn't easily allow for phone calls or Face Time.

I found the Italian penfriend I wrote to when a teenager but lost touch. We now message each other about our lives, swap recipes and as she is an English translator, I have been learning a bit of Italian in college. I have a massive family, my Dad was one of 12, so I am in contact with cousins, second cousins and even third cousins. So I do like Facebook but don't like the fact that I spend too much time on the computer playing flaming Pet Rescue.

I like it in general however it's been a bit of an eye opener recently on a certain group I'm on. I never realised that my village is full to the brim of narrow minded, pitchfork wielding, hysterical nasty gossips!
Apart from that it's great

I don't like it. I'm not into sharing what I've had for tea today or whether I went to the gym or not with someone I haven't spoken to since school. It's enough keeping up with my friends and family in the real world let alone the weird world of fb. Each to their own though.

Yep, love it too, I live overseas, keep up with family in the UK. Keep up with colleagues in the UK in the same field as me (so I keep up with UK best practice), arrange local stuff.
And living overseas, a tight community here- lots of shouts outs for recommendations (eg electricians, car mechanics), and "where in X can you get...." There was a post the other day that one of the supermarkets had Tetley tea, cue lots of proper tea deprived expats heading off.

Oh and I have a job interview tomorrow, which came about because someone messaged me on the pack of something I posted in an International school group.

I have one "Friend" who posts a lot of deep soul searching bollocks and tells people how to parent their kids (she has one child, who is at school all day, a live in maid and doesn't work). I keep meaning to block her, but her posts are a bit like a car crash, I can't stop looking.

I don't use it for loads of personal updates and I have deleted a couple of people because they did dribble on about 'Just changed little Johnny's nappy' or 'Having a roast for tea - yum' but they were few and far between. Most people just seem to update infrequently or have a chat.

I too have got back in contact with my French penfriend who I last saw at my wedding 20 odd years ago. There are a few school friends like that including my best friend from 6th form - we just drifted apart and then reconnected on FB.

Mostly I like it for the games though.

And the special interest groups, especially the closed ones.

I suppose it depends how you use it but I think it is just a bit of fun.

It is awful when people misuse it, forget that it is a public forum or use it for bullying, infidelity or hurtful gossip but ime that isn't that common. Maybe it is because I am older than some.

I like it too....random fb updates aside...and I am still beating it into submission after the last revamp as it is determined I only need to see Top Stories and not Most Recent, but it will learn.

I love it and would die without it.

Have to admit I would love it more if they didn't keep trying to 'improve my experience'
