to moan about being so hungry?

Just wanted a moan. I have an outpatient procedure on Friday and am on a restricted diet of easily digestible food. Basically I'm not allowed anything vaguely healthy or tasty, and because everything is so easily digestible, it leaves you feeling hungry again within minutes. My meals today have consisted of- 2 croissants (but plain as I'm not allowed anything that might taste nice on top), 2 slices of white toast (ditto), a few crackers (ditto) and the highlight of the day- chicken risotto (ie chicken and rice cooked in chicken stock, no other ingredients).

Tomorrow will be even worse. Roll on Friday afternoon!

Sounds like a low residue diet prior to colonoscopy! YANBU - but the bowel prep is worse :) I could never understand what my patients thought was so spectacular about the post procedure coffee & sandwiches until I went through it :)

Good luck btw, hope all goes smoothly.

Hic got it in one- that's why tomorrow will be even worse! This is my second so I know what I'm in for tomorrow with the Moviprep.

PS you get coffee and sandwiches? Last time I was offered a biscuit. I inhaled it so quickly the nurse thought she better offer another. When that disappeared just as quickly as the first the nurse gave me a funny look and said 'I'll just leave you with the tin, shall I?' (In my defence I was on pred at the time and my scope was delayed so I had fasted for over 24 hours by then). This time I'm bringing a picnic!

After my last big leg op, when I was NPO fot 16 hours for the afternoon list, I sent out for a 14" Four Seasons with doner meat and DW brought me in a chocolate mousse.

Didn't touch the sides.

Yeh I was thinking colonoscopy. At the unit I work in it's tea and toast or tea and biscuits. Must taste like a feast after that.

Blondie1984 · 23/04/2014 22:45

Have you tried fish? That is easily digestible and proven to be one of the most filling foods

cherrytree63 · 24/04/2014 02:07

Moan away! After my last colonoscopy I was grateful that one of the yther patients was diabetic and gave me her biscuits! Grin

In our unit there is a plate of club sandwiches, unlimited tea & coffee & biscuits after every day case procedure, scopes are treated the same as other daystay patients. It's much appreciated :) I was ready to eat a weeks worth of anything by the time I was awake enough!

CrohnicallyHungry · 24/04/2014 07:40

Blonde- no I haven't. I was going to get some when I did my weekly shop, but all they had in (lidl) was either breaded or in some kind of sauce so I got the chicken instead. Will try it next time though!

Hic- I want to move hospitals now, that sounds good.
