Visit to Space Centre in Leicester tomorrow with DD, who is a very intellegent 7yo. Now, I'm not exactly a dunce- but I seem to know very little about space (IMO Pluto is a fucking dog!)...so what to cram on tonight? Bearing in mind I won't be able to read signs etc while I'm there...? Help me not make a prick of myself?

She says she wants to be an astrophycasist!

Ask her lots of (appropriate to her level) questions while you are there and let her enjoy learning and sharing her knowledge.

The order of the planets from the sun is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. The saying to remember it used to be Most Vicars Eat Mainly Jam Sandwiches Unlike Normal People. BUT Pluto isn't a planet anymore so forget the P.

Then hope and pray to Pluto that she agrees and gives you lots of useful info.

Oh we've been there today, they're doing talks on grossology -the gross things our bodies do in space. Lots about how to go to the toilet, what happens to human waste, and can you trump/burp/sneeze in space! My DS's found it very informative, and yes you can spend all day there.

I took 32 year 5/6's so slightly different! To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the outside but it's better in than it looks. Certainly my children enjoyed it, the weather booth was a hoot and they loved dressing up The astronaut show was brilliant!
