to love paying bills?

We sit down of an evening, usually the day after mid month pay, and we pay all the bills for the month, and review our budget for the next thirty days.
Some stuff we have set up on direct debit, but there are still a lot of things that aren't.

I feel so calm, and in control when it is all done. It feels like I can breathe easier.
Am I the only one?

I take it you are in the US given the reference to mid month pay? This may sound harsh, but I couldn't imagine anything duller: we have direct debits set up for all of ours. No need to spend any time on them.

But I take the point about feeling calm and in control.

Pay day is today for DH (based in the UK).

I have downloaded bank statements, checked direct debits, paid school dinner money etc etc. It is quite satisfying to know that it is done. I do it every month without fail.

Personally I find it soul destroying as there is never enough. The sound of post coming through the letterbox is enough to send me into a flap.

I'm sure its very satisfying if you have enough money.

Payday for my DH too (UK). Maybe our DH's work for the same company Wink

YANBU. As long as I have enough money coming in to cover all my bills, with money left over for food, then I feel like this.

It's good to be in control and know exactly what's left. It has the opposite effect if I don't have enough income, though.

We haven't always been able to do this, in the early years we were always broke, and bills got bumped to the next month, or paid in part. Blush
I think it is because now we are doing better financially, but we are also more organised and responsible.
Once all the bills are paid, and any remaining monies are allocated, I can stop thinking about it. I am a worrier by nature, so it is nice to have a way of dealing with it.

Nope. Never think about bills here, they would never get paid if not all on direct debit

IckleBird · 22/04/2014 15:49

Yes it's good knowing the bills are paid each month as well as reducing debt payments.
Watching my available savings deplete not so satisfying though.
