To have used this picnic table?

We took the children out yesterday and being a bank holiday the attraction was busy. Most of the picnic tables were filled but there was one which had 2 lunch boxes on it. We came back half an hour later and again all the tables were full but the one with 2 lunch boxes was still empty.

We decided to use that one so sat down got out our picnic, moved the lunch boxes to the end of the table and begun our meal. 20 minutes later a family of 6 turned up demanding that we "get down for their reserved table".

We also said we'd be another 10 minutes or so and would let them know when we'd finished if they'd like.

They grabbed the lunch boxes and went off swearing loudly about "ill mannered f*cking plebs stealing our table".

WIBU to have used the table or do we now live in a country where lunch boxes on tables signify the same as beach towels on sun beds?

That's insane. Maybe five minutes while they got hot drinks from a kiosk, but not all afternoon! What's wrong with people?!
