Were in the north west. Don't mind driving up to 1.5 hours.

Going is..

Myself, dp and dd (11m)
Db and SIL

Me and db like culture, things to see ect, dp and SIL couldn't give a toss.

Beach / lake . Not a stately home , dp would fly round with in two mins.

Any ideas?

Liverpool is good with Tate, ships and docks and there is a deepwater exhibition on Albert docks. See what is showing at the echo arena and maybe pick up a show afterwards.

tatton park - although is a stately home has lots of grounds for walking and right by knutsford which is lovely with naice restaurants.

Southport and formby for beach, lake district is within an hour too.

MumOfTheMoos · 19/04/2014 21:04

Why don't you go to that Chinese lantern thingy at the winter gardens in Blackpool? They had it on the one show last night and it looked fab - perfect for your 11mth old!

Fizzybangfanny · 19/04/2014 21:04

Loving fountains Abby and liv docks with exibs!

Marylou2 · 19/04/2014 21:19

Museum of Science and Industry
Ness Gardens on the Wirral
Tatton Park
Lyme Park
Manchester Museum
Liverpool One or the Trafford Centre
Jodrell Bank

Sandthorn · 19/04/2014 21:21

Go to liverpool. If the weather's nice, go for a walk on Crosby beach and see the Anthony Gormley statues. If the weather's crap, stick to the city centre, and definitely take in Walker gallery and world museum.

Sirzy · 19/04/2014 21:21

Tatton Park have easter egg hunts and stuff on this weekend. Nice place to take a picnic too.

Sirzy · 19/04/2014 21:22

go for a walk on Crosby beach and see the Anthony Gormley statues

We went last week and I was very disapointed. Pretty poor beach and after the first look the statues aren't that exciting.

I would much rather go to Formby where at least the beach is nice

maddening · 19/04/2014 21:26

Dunham Massey is nice too.

Fizzybangfanny · 19/04/2014 21:31

Thanks you lot. Avert docks has some good stuff on tomorow and plenty to do. Dp has a very short attention span and there is plenty places to eat! Thanks x

BarbaraPalmer · 19/04/2014 21:34

lovely walks, nice caff, great adventure playground. usually stuff on for the DC over easter.

Shockers · 19/04/2014 21:38

There's a Brockholes centre near Preston too. They have lots of stuff on over Easter.

alwaysonmymind · 19/04/2014 21:42

Dunham Massey was a hospital during WW1 and have recreated Stamford Hospital - inside if it rains! Supposed to be very good

Fizzybangfanny · 19/04/2014 22:07

botanical gardens in Southport

I love living in the north west. so much to do on our doorstep or just a short drive away Smile

whitedoor · 19/04/2014 23:33

Warning, Lytham was freezing today and that was with the sun out. Managed 20 mins on beach before needing to go and get Big Coat from car.

What about Salford quays. Lowry, imperial war museum north, some other bits and bobs on the water. Lots of restaurants etc but don't know specifically what's open tomorrow.

LadyRabbit · 20/04/2014 00:06

Ooh another one saying Fountains Abbey. And Rievaulx. Beautiful, and Fountains has a great visitor centre and cafe.

Bodicea · 20/04/2014 07:04

Bolton abbey - one of the most picturesque places I have ever come across. has a little beach by the river , stepping stones, different kids activity bits along the walk.
was there yesterday and took about an hour from northwest

BarbaraPalmer · 20/04/2014 08:30

yy to bolton abbey - how did I forget this when we were there on Friday??

fountains abbey is amazing, but it's a Loooong drive from Manchester. Bolton Abbey much more doable, plus there's a brilliant 50s style ice cream parlour with a big playground 5 mins down the road.
