To not want to clean the kitchen again?

BaronVonShush · 18/04/2014 19:41

I have done the washing up and wiping down about 3 times today.

I don't want to do it again. I just don't. I want to kick a cupboard door and scream.

But if I don't do it it will still be there in the morning.

I fucking hate house work sometimes. It's a never ending rota of mind numbing dullness that gives me the rage. I feel like a two year old who has the wrong sandwich.

Can't the house work fairies do it?

I hoovered and steam mopped downstairs this morning and it needs doing again now. Hate housework.

3DcAndMe · 18/04/2014 19:45

If you find the work fairies send some my way?

Today I have swept about six times, mopped once, cleaned the work tops at least four times, highchair five times, table three times, washed all but the tea pots

And there are pots and pasta sauce all over the bloody place now

Develop a higher mess tolerance than those you live with. It's working for me Grin...

BaronVonShush · 18/04/2014 19:45

Our hoover's broken. Still not replaced. It's been two weeks.

Paint your nails. Impossible then and kills the martyr in one to boot.

Lilaclily · 18/04/2014 19:46

Lower your standards
Just do it once after the evening meal

3DcAndMe · 18/04/2014 19:47

Oh god if I only did it once we would get mice for sure!

BaronVonShush · 18/04/2014 19:48

I'm the one with the high mess tolerance! Mostly I have done laundry and looked after 5 month old DS.

I haven't done that much but I know there's quite a lot needs doing and it will need doing again in the near future even after I've done it. Rage.

3 DC and DH and me means endless laundry.

Jinty64 · 18/04/2014 19:50

I thought it was just me! ....and I really hated cleaning the highchair. We got a booster seat thing that could go in the dishwasher for ds3 (we didn't have a dishwasher when the other two were that age.

Thetallesttower · 18/04/2014 19:51

I feel your pain. Holidays are just not holidays if you do 99% of the housework, if anything there is more housework. That's why I can't be bothered to go away, because when I get there, it's more of the same.

Perhaps that's why all-inclusives are so popular?

RuthlessBaggage · 18/04/2014 19:54

Mine is absolutely spotless ... because the mobile DC and DH are all away, leaving me with pre-weaned DC3. Even the gas fire and the oven and the playroom are clean Shock

They're all back tomorrow...

Wookiemonster0 · 18/04/2014 19:58

YANBU have some Wine instead and close your eyes

namechangenumber5 · 18/04/2014 20:03

Can I just check if you have a dishwasher? On for most of the day, counter tops cleaned, floor once the day is over. Don't do the while thing every time. You will loose you're mind.

BaronVonShush · 18/04/2014 20:13

No dishwasher, tumble dryer instead. Although not in use now the weather has dried out.

I like a relatively clean and tidy house just not the means by which to get there!

Yanbu.

I clean the kitchen and within seconds (minor exaggeration) it is in the same state as it was before I cleaned it Angry

MatureUniStudentGraduated · 18/04/2014 20:56

Had a dinner party last night, went somewhat sloshed into the kitchen to tidy up, at 1pm at night. The cleaning fairies had been. One spotless kitchen. I love love love my teenagers.

Just keep the faith, they will reward you one day for all your mopping, hoovering and ironing!

cardibach · 18/04/2014 23:04

3DC why do you think you would get mice from cleaning your kitchen once a day Confused?

3DcAndMe · 19/04/2014 08:44

Because all 3 of my dc seem to lob food everywhere!

RuthlessBaggage · 19/04/2014 09:34

I assume 3DC is rural - my very rural grandpa gets mice everywhere if you so much as drop a crumb.

Marylou62 · 19/04/2014 09:34

I had a massive clean up in the kitchen on Tuesday. Today.....dining table full up of STUFF! I regularly go on 'strike'. But Youngest leaving home next Sunday so trying not to nag. One day it will just be my mess and I will have no one to blame.

3DcAndMe · 19/04/2014 09:37

I have mouse fear

We had one once, and it scared the life out of me!

We are not inner city nor in the sticks! We live in a small town I don't know what this makes us!

AlpacaLypse · 19/04/2014 09:39

Baron do you mean you've put a tumble drier in the space where the dishwasher would go in the kitchen?

I'd move the tumble to a utilityroom/garage/shed/spare bedroom/anywhere but in the kitchen and get a dishwasher. It hides a multitude of sins very very quickly!

lanbro · 19/04/2014 09:41

It's a never ending cycle of cleaning and laundry here too, dh, a 2yo and 7mo. I used to be very tidy, that's long gone now! So long as things are cleanish I'm happy!
