I went into my local store yesterday and I was so disappointed - it looked like a jumble sale and there was no one there to help or even ask for advice. All the pushchairs were just lumped together. Whats gone wrong??? When I was buying things for my son (10 years ago) it was a great place and good quality stuff but now......

I meant to ask - where do you go now to buy baby stuff - duvets and pushchairs? I want to go to a shop rather than buy things on line as they are for a gift. Thasnk

Yes our local one is dire. Awful lighting and layout. No play area for the kids to try toys out. Despite two huge floors of toys they didnt have a single bucket and spade. Not one.

We always go to the Mothercare next door instead, lovely play area with toy kitchen and train track etc at back that dd loves. We always end of buying something while were there. TAKE NOTE BABIES R US.

hoofhearted: Kiddicare has a store relatively near us that isn't bad though we do tend to buy necessities online.

Agree - we went in one to look at travel systems. Assistant there was friendly enough but had no clue about the makes of pushchair.

We gave up with it and had a look for a first cot toy instead. No selection to speak of - just a lot of overpriced dangly noisy stuff.

Mothercare was better.

Mamas & Papas - lovely stuff but so £££££££

Ronmione · 16/04/2014 19:45

Do you have a kiddicare near you, they have a wide range and prices are good

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 16/04/2014 20:14

Kiddicare, Mothercare, John Lewis, mamas and papas.

Toys r us doesn't seem to have been updated since the 90s. All the stores look the same.

MrsMook · 16/04/2014 23:07

Toys R Us are especially designed to destroy the energy levels of a pregnant woman long before she's finished weaving pointlessly around the pocket money toys to get to the babies section. Some seats near the collection area to rest those SPD ridden joints on wouldn't go amiss, but no, that would be dangerously close to being half decent customer service.

It's a shop I try to avoid as it sucks the pleasure out if buying toys. Quite an unfortunate achievement.

Grotbagstwin · 16/04/2014 23:09

Kiddicare is fab if you are near one, staff are great and loads of choice.
Guidelines don't recommend duvets for first 12 months though.

I agree, my local Babies R Us is crap - I was really disappointed!!

Then me and DH discovered Kiddicare....just wow!
I was like a kid in a sweet shop!!
