to wonder what these pains are?

Yesterday evening around 6pm i started getting what felt like shooting/stabbing pain in my right ovary. I have never had this before.

Perhaps i should explain that three weeks back i was diagnosed with pcos. I have since gone on a healthy eating plan which i have been doing for 10 days now and have lost 13lb. Before diet i had constant flooding (vaginal bleeding) which would last for months on end. Once it was for 12 months until i had coil put it. I had coil taken out Nov last year and flooding returned, but since i started this healthy eating, the bleeding completely stopped within two days. But now this pain is baffling me!

Could be something as simple as ovulation pains?

thepolymysticovary · 14/04/2014 14:40

I forgot to say that the pain only lasts 30 seconds or so at a time.

I would say it's ovulation pain too. I used to have this as well - it alternates sides monthly.

DameFanny · 14/04/2014 15:22

Agree it sounds like ovulation pains, but.. 13 pounds in 10 days? What's the plan?!

caruthers · 14/04/2014 15:24

I know this sounds simple and obvious but get yourself to the docs and I hope you feel better soon.

thepolymysticovary · 14/04/2014 16:56

Ovulation pains would be amazing! I haven't ovulated for the best part of 6 years and DP and I have started TTC.

I think I have lost 13lb in just over a week is because I started off at 22 stone and large people like me tend to lose weight quicker in the first week or so. I have just been sticking to no more than 1500 calories, 125 carbs and 20g saturated fat per day. At first it was really hard but I don't feel as hungry any more. I just think of a baby when I even feel tempted to go to the chip shop or burger takeaway and that temptation goes right away. The weight loss will slow right down to a few pounds per week soon, I am sure.

Have you had your thyroid checked? My sister used to have heavy periods. She now takes thyroxine for under active thyroid, problem solved.

Twighlightsparkle · 14/04/2014 17:00

I'd third it being ovulation, I get this only when I ovulate from my left ovary.

Well done on the weight loss

DavenotChas · 14/04/2014 17:10

I'll fourth ovulation pains. Mine alternates between left and right monthly. Sharp stabby pain. Well done on the weight loss and lots of luck TTC Thanks

thepolymysticovary · 14/04/2014 17:21

I am so excited that I could be ovulating! Should DP and I be shagging every night now then Grin to maximise our chances of conception?

DavenotChas · 14/04/2014 17:27

Shag away, enjoy yourselves Wink

MandatoryMongoose · 14/04/2014 17:31

Do you think you could be pregnant already Grin ?

I had the sort of pain you describe very early in pregnancy between about 4 and 6 weeks.

jeanmiguelfangio · 14/04/2014 17:38

Id say ovulation, I get that pain too, bloody hurts! And yes, go nuts, now is the time to be at it like rabbits

thepolymysticovary · 14/04/2014 17:54

I tested this morning Mongoose (love your name!), but twas negative. How disappointing! I will wait a few weeks and then test again, but in the meantime I will be shagging DP every minute we're together! His willy will think it's it's birthday!
