To think a human is fucking with me

I have a pot of agapanthus buried into the back garden. Twice now I've gone out to find the agapanthus upended and an empty tin of dog food buried there.

The first time I thought foxes, the second time I'm not so sure. Last week I took the tin out and put it next to my chicken run and reported the agapanthus.

I've just been out the front to find the tin has been replanted in my new strawberry bed and 2 strawberry plants have been upended. Only when I went to replant them did I notice the entirely buried dog food tin.

Yes, it's the tin from the back garden (70 feet away)

There is no way an animal has done this right? Confused

A large house that backs onto us may be some sort of half way house as I've been yelled at by young men a few times when in the garden.

I'd really like another explanation before I talk to the rozzers and say 'there's a dog food tin wandering round my garden appearing in unlikely places' Hmm

Why didn't you throw the tin away & how easy is it for someone to get into your garden?

I would think person, as opposed to animal.

Put something nasty on the tin? Can you still buy itching powder? Some kind of slow to dry gloss paint? Mouse trap in the tin?

I put it next to the chicken run the second time so I knew where it was.

They'd have to climb over a six foot wall at the side and a six foot fence at the front.

I've now put it in the recycling bin out the front. If they look in the bin they could repot it in the strawberries.

Easy! You think the loud offensive men next door are using your garden as a drugs drop off... they put money in the tin and the dealer swaps it for drugs.

If you put lots of chilli powder and rub chillies all round the outside any animal that takes a sniff or luck is going to yelp and decide this game ain't fun!
If it's a person you can hope they sniff and sneeze or wipe their eyes after handling.
If it moves again it's definitely a person. That drug running idea first sound too far fetched either if the tin is empty- but then I've wisent the winter watching all the Scandinavian crime thrillers and their UK spin offs so now I'm suspicious of the blackbird nesting in my pyracantha.

There's no way someone's leaving drug money in it, there are way too many places to do that in a much easier way.

It is weirding me out as I really think it's being done deliberately

You need to coat the tin in superglue but then work out a way to make sure the superglue doesn't dry before Nutter next picks it up (don't think that's actually possible). Then when you spot either a human or a fox with a can of dog food stuck in its hand/mouth, you've got the answer.

I can see why this is freaking you out, though. No possibility it's a late April Fools from a DC/DH?

I would have thought the only way to know is to monitor it yourself hours on end to find out the culprit or get a camera in which you don't want to do. Otherwise you'll never know for sure !

i dont fully understand why you kept an empty tin of dog food in your garden anyway after you dug it up. why put it next the chickens. chuck it in the bin
