when people talk about the children being on half term.

They've just finished one term, so it's not half it's end of term.

OP - I don't like it either (she says in a very small voice). It's the Easter holidays, that's what it is.

SilverShins · 11/04/2014 23:42

Yabu. Crikey.

frogslegs35 · 11/04/2014 23:44

And this gives you actual rage? Hmm

iklboo · 11/04/2014 23:58

Is there an ouch in your pouch?

RedFocus · 12/04/2014 07:35

Who gives a fuck!
Yay it's half term! Wink

Willabywallaby · 12/04/2014 09:17

its half term in my house. you sound bonkers op.

MrsKermittSmith · 12/04/2014 11:46

Its not half term though, in the same way that December is not April and Summer is not Winter. Half term marks the half way point of each term, Easter is between terms.

I also get the rage when people say 'June Time' in the same way they would say 'Winter Time'. Grin

Pimpf · 12/04/2014 11:47

Wow, that gives you the rage....

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 12/04/2014 15:08

Are you one of the children currently on half term school hols?

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 12/04/2014 15:17

Mrs Kermit - if you're neither at school yourself, nor have anyone you know who is at school, it can be a bit tricky to keep up with what is half term or end of term (or indeed, Inset days and teachers' strike days) Smile

Also, Mrs Kermit (I'm really not normally pedantic about such things) but I have to point out that seasons do not begin with a capital letter. Seasons are spring, summer, autumn and winter, not Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Thank goodness I paid attention whilst I was actually at school, whatever the season or term.

Not sure about the rage part.

But it is the Easter holidays here. Not half term.

We had mid term in February - which was mid way way between Christmas and Easter holidays Smile

Pipbin · 12/04/2014 16:41

*It is halfway through a long term though. Easter is not half term. Halfterm is halfway between Easter and the summer hols.

No need for rage *

But it's not. There are three terms. Autumn; September to Christmas, Spring; Christmas to Easter and Summer; Easter to July. The one week break in the middle of each term are the half term holidays.
This is the Easter holiday because it has Easter in it. Just like the Christmas holiday has Christmas in it and the summer holiday has the summer in it.

Still, although I find it slightly annoying, I don't care what people call it really.

Nennypops · 12/04/2014 16:41

It's half term in our house

How can it be? Half term is half way through the term. That happened in February. Term 2 has come to an end. Term 3 will start just after Easter. It's the school holidays.

hugoagogo · 12/04/2014 16:46

Ikaboo beat me too it Grin
