To think kids these days are weird.

Obviously it's the school holidays and the weather is nice so the kids are out in force (nothing wrong with that). Walking towards teen mecca Mcdonalds today and I see a boy of about 11 was crying while holding the shoulders of a girl who was laughing and they were both trying to kick each other. The boy had ketchup on his shirt. A lady intervened as I got there and asked what was going on, the crying boy screamed the girl got ketchup all over him and the laughing girl said she didn't do it on purpose. Meanwhile a group of about 15 of their peers stood laughing at them both.

I walk 20 seconds down the road and sit on the wall next to a grassed area with my mum and baby to eat an ice cream. A few feet away from us is a tree and a gang of about 7 what looked like 12/13 year olds. First of all one started flicking ice cream over the others, cue much wailing from the girls, then one chucks a full milkshake into the tree so it goes everywhere, cue more screams from the girls. They then proceed to spend 5 minutes throwing a stick at it to try and hit it out while 2 of them try to convince the rest that people think they look 16 so they can get into clubs. Err sorry love, you look about 12 and you have to be 18 to get into clubs!

Please tell me this is weird and I have not turned into one of those old fuddy duddies at the grand old age of 27! Don't kids spend their time on the beach, at the park, kicking a ball etc anymore?

er...that's just 2 incidents....2....plenty of kids will be out doing kid things elsewhere you know!!

Wantsunshine · 09/04/2014 17:23

Not weird at all. I am sure you would see and hear much the same if you were sitting there in the 70's and 80's. Only difference back then is they would be more likely to get in a club!

Weren't they at a park? Confused

Sure kids act idiotic, teenagers as much as toddlers.

Makes me glad I'm not a teacher.
