There are plenty of threads to pay condolences, I don't think one as an AIBU is in very good taste at all.

I can see that it might be to pay respects but it could also be considered ghoulish and prurient.

She died today. She woke up this morning like the rest of us. To me it seems a bit immediate for strangers to discuss it at length, even if it is to pay respects.
