Is the extremely untalented, mediocre and not the least bit entertaining? Just catching up on Ant and Dec, I really love the show but do not get RW at all

also I hate his stupid smug grin

There's no doubt it is a horrible expression, but probably said as a joke to get people to be all Shock which we are.

bragmatic · 06/04/2014 10:55

All these years and I still don't know who is Ant and who is Dec.

LJBanana · 06/04/2014 10:57

Yes it is a horrible expression. It's very puzzling. I wouldn't like to be on the receiving end or the subject of it-can we even call it a metaphor? It would make me feel very upset to hear my partner describe childbirth as this-especially so publically-bad form, and bad taste!

LJBanana · 06/04/2014 10:58

Left Ant right Dec. I love them, good old fashioned, fun entertainment!

BringMeTea · 06/04/2014 10:59

bragmatic I used to be the same.... Then someone said: Ant is the one who looks like an ant. It all fell into place.

Lottapianos · 06/04/2014 11:02

I have found my people! I've thought for years that he's a huge talent free zone, smug git, show off, waste of time. Can't sing. Don't get the adoration at all. He's the musical version of James Corden

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 06/04/2014 11:05

He looks like a chimp.

And he is not a great songwriter, guy chambers wrote all his older stuff, and Gary Barlow has written all his newer stuff.

His arrogance knows no bounds. On their progress tour he really tried to steal the show, but he irritated me and I was only really interested in the other four.

Gary Barlow has indeed turned into a bit of a twat too, but actually if you read his autobiography (yes I'm that sad) you can see he always has been.

Jason is my fave! He is a vegetarian too, like me, so I am now convinced we are meant to be together.

Sparklingbrook · 06/04/2014 11:13

I don't really care for TT at all, I am too old but that concert thing they did with the elephant thing was quite impressive. I will give them that.

I prefer them to Boyzone/Westlife/5ive/Blue etc, as in TT are the least worst. Grin

BumPotato · 06/04/2014 11:46

I do love a bit of Robbie. Took my then 8 year old to see him last year for her first ever concert ( she was there for Olly though).

I can't be doing with the Swing stuff he's doing just now, so not going to go to this year's tour. That will pretty much be the first tour of his since he went solo I'll have missed.

Duran Duran kick Robbie/Take That's arse 8 days a week . The last DD album was fantastic (billed as the follow up to Rio) and a firm favourite in my car, including approval from the DCs.

BumPotato · 06/04/2014 11:48

The Progress tour, for me was the Robbie show, with a touch of Take That. Certainly the one I saw RW got far more noise from the crowd than TT, all the way through.

Lorelilee · 06/04/2014 11:57

He is a twat. He used to be a great entertainer, he's not even that now - he 'hands the mike over' to the audience for half of every song he puffs his way through sings nowadays.

Nerf · 06/04/2014 12:10

Bringmetea - I said that on a thread here! Was just going to repeat it for bragmatic Grin but you beat me to it. Pointed it out to our visitor yesterday, sorted.

rodgette · 06/04/2014 20:05

:) to the canal, bricks, bag list, love that!
Can we put Vernon Kay and Tess Daily on that list too?
And holly [bloody] Will-o-booby, arghhhhhhhhhhhh.....

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 06/04/2014 20:14

I was a huge Take That fan in my day, and Robbie was my favorite, and I liked him in the early days of his solo career.

However, he has become really big-headed and smarmy, and I dislike him now.

squoosh · 06/04/2014 20:22

YANBU

I'm thrilled his career has stalled. It's mind boggling to think he played three sell out gigs at Knebworth a decade or so ago. He was so massive at one stage, I worried for humanity.

PaulinesPen · 06/04/2014 20:29

'I'm thrilled his career has stalled'

Really? Aw that seems harshSad

Bowlersarm · 06/04/2014 20:31

Naughty OP Angry

squoosh · 06/04/2014 20:31

Sorry! But he was everywhere in the early noughties. He's had his moment in the sun and should be grateful for that considering he has considerably more arrogance than talent.

Fifyfomum · 06/04/2014 20:34

What I like about Robbie is that he Knows he can't sing and freely admits it. He is a talented performer but he is not a talented singer. I like that he likes old music and brings it back to life.

Whereas Gary Barlow thinks he is just fantastic and though he does have song writing ability, I really don't think he is a very talented singer either.

Andcake · 06/04/2014 20:40

Yanbu arrogant ugly tosser. Cheesy music, loves himself too much. Gary is annoying but doesn't quite love himself as much!

PaulinesPen · 06/04/2014 20:41

I saw a very moving programme at Christmas when Gary Barlow went to entertain the armed forces in Afghanistan. He did well I thought.

BumPotato · 06/04/2014 20:46

Gary Barlow, has on several occasions made it clear he finds it preposterous that Robbie has had all the success and recognition he has (I'm speaking about pre-TT comeback).

What Gary fails to see is that RW possesses the X-Factor. You don't have to be the best singer you just need to have what it takes to entertain and win the hearts of the masses.

DameEdnasBridesmaid · 06/04/2014 20:52

OP YANBU RW is a dick. A smug, gurning, arrogant dick.

blackcurrentjuice · 06/04/2014 20:59

Can I just say that Jason TT is bloody lovely.

I meet him not long ago and DC1 used that opportunity to have a massive tantrum and run off down the road - Jason helped out and talked DC1 round. While I just sat there feeling mortified, embarassed and star struck in equal measure.

YANBU about RW though!

LJBanana · 06/04/2014 21:32

Oh my good god. I cannot believe I omitted Katie Bloody Hopkins of the bag bricks canal list.

All I can do is apologise!

She's on celeb juice this week, I'm going to leave Holly off the list to see her give Hopkins a beasting on the telly box!
