BIL has taken a permanent job local to us but not to him and for the last 6 weeks has been kipping on the sofa at ours Mon to Wed. We are away Easter Weekend Fri to Wed. DH feels we have to leave a key and let him stay here in our absence. I am not comfortable either leaving a key under a flowerpot or giving him a set. I also think he needs to come up with a solution that isn't our lounge and he has loads of time to get a hotel room. Really don't know..

Tell him it invalidates your house insurance?

Yanbu. What's his long-term solution? Sofa sleeping must be terrible for his back. Plus intrusive, no privacy etc.
