To apply for a new job.

My SIL today told me about a job she was applying for and when reading the job discription I think it would be perfect for me.

If i do apply I would have a better chance, not saying that to brag, but the ward knows me and in the past encouraged me to apply as they think I would be a great part of the team.

I just think it feels wrong and I would hate to fall out with SIL as she is not only the mother of my niece and DB fiancé but also one of my close friends.

Unless it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and you tell SIL before applying, I wouldn't, to be honest.

Not a once in a lifetime job and I can wait.

I do love the job I am in, great friends and fantastic boss. Where as SIL is miserable in her job and lonley.

Then use your better knowledge to help her get a better shot at it.

Well, you obviously have very similar skills, so there's a good chance you'd want to go for the same job.

Can you talk to SIL and mention you were thinking of applying too? It would look bad if you just applied without saying anything.

If you're both job hunting maybe you can pool resources.

Why would you apply if you're happy in your current job?

Why not put in a good word for your sil instead?

Discuss it with her before applying. Tell her it looks great and you are going to apply as well but it would be on your conscience to do so secretly, so how would she feel?

I'm surprised she told you if she knew that you'd be better qualified to do the job and might apply.

She might be annoyed, but there's no easy answer to this one. I guess you have to weigh up how annoyed vs how good the job is!

I wouldn't. I think your relationship with her is more important especially as you're happy in yours. Sorry just doesn't seem right.

The reason I want another job is because I have only had 1 job, this one I have had for 11 years and looking for something diffrent.

Are they advertising for only one person for this role? Or is it one role,more than one person?

Might not hurt to speak to your sil and also contact them to find that out?

Think you'd be awful if you applied for this job too.

Maybe start looking for other jobs though op.

It's often only when you hear someone else talking about a job they're going to apply for that you fully realise that you want a new challenge yourself.

nothing wrong with being a cleaner, but for me i want something more.
