I don't kill them on purpose but it does happen whilst I'm trying to trap them and my limbs are kind of flailing about. Logic is telling me 'it's fine, put the glass over it', some primal part of my brain is screaming 'run run OMG throw something at it now now now run run'.

I am not cut out for living anywhere with exciting wildlife. The countryside in the UK is probably a bit of a big ask never mind Australia! Grin

YANBU of course!

Melonbreath · 04/04/2014 08:08

I booked the London zoo course and.... was too scared to go in as i knew there were spiders in there!
They say they have a 100% success rate. They lie.

ThatBloodyWoman · 04/04/2014 08:19

Alis I do understand.

I'd never take the piss out of arachnophobics -there was a time when I wouldn't be in a house if there was a sighting or a known spider threat.

I'm not really sure how I got where I am tbh!

Cockadoodledooo · 04/04/2014 08:28

I love spiders. YANBU to not want them in be with you though!

LoonvanBoon · 04/04/2014 09:27

I hate spiders too. Which sprays do people use to get rid of them?

We gather loads of conkers in the Autumn & put them all over, but have never noticed it making much difference.

I keep finding the little fuckers in my bathroom, DD is terrified of them, so mummy has to deal with them.

I keep telling everyone, no one listens.

They have a plot to take over the world, house by house, anyone who shows sympathy, is a spider apologist and must be shot on sight.

ipswichwitch · 04/04/2014 10:07

Oh my god, spiders have willies?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

In all seriousness, I know they are very useful and all that. I'd just be eternally grateful if they'd hide and stop scaring the shit out of me. Especially those giant feckin wolf spiders. Then I think we'll get along nicely thankyou.

Clawdy · 04/04/2014 10:35

Yes,I was going to suggest "Charlotte's Web" too. We should respect spiders! Smile

ShowMeYourTARDIS · 04/04/2014 22:27

I recognise the important role spiders play. If I'm by myself, I try and relocate them. I can deal. Doesn't mean I think they're any less awful.

Bees, on the other hand, leave me running in terror.

Spiders don't have willies. They are awesome and do a great job.

My pet house spider has laid two egg sacks and hung them up in her tank.

I'm bloody terrified of spiders. I skived off work one afternoon, settled down on the settee for an afternoon of doing fuck all constructive work to find this bastard on the ceiling. Sadly I still can't bring myself to kill them (I'm scared of dead ones too, so no point really, plus I love bugs and believe everything apart from wasps n fleas has right to live), so ended up having a mental debate with myself for about half an hour before finally plucking up courage, getting it in the spider catcher, and launching it outside. I shook for about an hour afterwards, n nearly puked!! I'm well 'ard me Grin Grin

i have just picked up my first house spider in years and popped him out of the bathroom window.

he wasnt massive, and what i remember is that i once saw a programme on spiders - they dont actually like the feel and temperature of human skin.....
he wouldnt jump onto my hand voluntarily. i had to pick him up gently with tissue.

im very proud of myself because i am a wuss and im normally scared of them.
i used to be able to pick up any and every creepy crawly going....so thought it was time to man up!

sykadelic · 05/04/2014 04:14

I read once that you're never more than 5 metres or something from a spider all the time.

Most spiders are scaredy cats. It's the aggressive ones that concern me!
