Charity Gifts

IABU to start another thread about what charities send out in order to try to raise funds.

I have just opened an envelope from British Red Cross a charity and found

  1. Pack of two coasters who uses them these days?
  2. Two greetings cards with envelopes which I will use
  3. A bookmark which I will not use because I already have a dozen.
  4. A pen but not the sort that lasts 3 days

If I were to buy these elsewhere, I suspect the cost would be around £2.00. Cheaper for the charity, I suspect, but wouldn't they receive more just with advertisements or leaflets through letterboxes?

No, I will not be contributing.

I don't often get these but I'll have you know, I love my coasters. They are little Persian rugs with tassel-y bits at the ends. Coaster rugs Grin

Fuxache.

Nothing to add re: the general principle, but I use coasters (granted, funky ones from MOMA, not charity ones).

Bunbaker · 18/03/2014 13:35

I use coasters because I don't want hot drink marks on my nice shiny new dining room table, or on my coffee table. Most people I know use coasters.

LaGuardia · 18/03/2014 15:15

People with good quality/antique furniture use coasters Wink

There used to be some lovely biscuits called Boasters. I wish I had some of those now.

ohmymimi · 18/03/2014 15:58

Why dido? Did you use them as coasters? Confused

DidoTheDodo · 18/03/2014 16:29

ohmy The chocolatey lumps would have melted, but they were about coaster size.
