I heard of people begging asking for money instead of gifts for weddings however I was just on Facebook and saw a woman asking for us to prof read her wording for her 3 year old invite

asking people not to being gifts but to give cash instead

wtf can't people just be happy there getting anything and if you don't want it then tell people to come with nothing

isn't half the fun of a kids birthday them opening the pressies most of which you think are crap but they love!!

I don't mind cash requests for older kids, but for a 3 year old it does seem a bit off. Maybe they just don't have room for loads of plastic tat? Asking people not to bring anything NEVER works so cash is a good compromise.

Yes agree EXCEPT in those cases where the birthday person has become obsessed with the bike/pony! Otherwise it seems a bit creepy...

The problem with asking for money over gifts is you force the person to contribute more than they want/can afford. Many people will shop in places where you can get toys cheap or buy stuff in the sales and store in a present cupboard for birthdays/Christmas.

They might be able to give a gift that's worth twenty quid for a fiver, however if they have to give money it will likely be twenty quid out of the pot set aside for foods or bills.

I think it's rude and grabby personally.
