To think Lidl is overpriced...

I started to go to Aldi a couple of months ago, and the other day I decided to go to Lidl instead because it's slightly bigger but my food bill went back up to Tesco prices!
I thought it was another bargain store! You've all tricked me

I much prefer Aldi...its amazing!

I thought it was supposed to be high quality european brands for the same price as uk mid range brands? not a netto type place.

lidl is cheaper than tescos and not nearly as nasty

Lidl is nothing like Tesco prices!!
Our wee town only has Lidl and Tesco and the difference between them price wise is incredible!

YABU to call it overpriced while making no reference to the quality of the food.

They're both good and great value (Aldi and Lidl, not Tesco) but Aldi has the edge these days.

The lidl I go to is half the price of Tesco so YABU.

I did find them 20p dearer on a tin of tate&lyles golden syrup

but otherwise I'd say you were havering.

Lidl tends to be more expensive for branded items. Utterly bizarre to consider it the same price as tesco. Tesco is very overpriced

I tend to find that lidl do more luxury/'different' products than aldi.
Though aldi may be cheaper I prefer the quality at lidl aswell as the instore bakery

My Lidl and Tesco are right next to each other. Most of the uk stuff is very similar to Tesco. For example their muller yoghurts are half price where as tea is were buy one get one free.

I find all the foreign stuff is cheaper. Chicken breasts and mincemeat are exactly the same tho possibly better quality...

Sorry it was similar quality stuff to aldi IMO. I live in the outskirts of London and aldi is always heaving but Lidl had only a couple of customers there during a fairly busy period... I see why now! Maybe it's just my Lidl. When I compared my receipt to tesco online saddo they were similar prices but some stuff would've been cheaper in tesco because it was on offer there. I paid £6 for 4 quite fatty, small chicken breasts in Lidl, I could've got better quality ones in tesco for maybe a pound more. Or 5 better quality ones for just under £6 in aldi. I think I'll just stick to my aldi! Even if it is small and busy!

YABU. Lidl is much cheaper and better than Tesco.

For certain things Lidl is more expensive than I was expecting - bakery products, crisps etc but the quality of their stuff is mostly really good. Most of our Christmas food was from the Lidl premium range

I was forced to do a Tesco shop recently and was completely at their prices!! Totally overpriced for even the basics and lots of dodgy looking cheap makes.

Don't have an Aldi nearby so do the bulk of my shopping in Lidl, then go to Tesco the stuff I can't get there.

No way would I say their prices are comparable. Meat in particular is a lot cheaper at Lidl.

I find Lidl much cheaper and better quality than Aldi. My Aldi is awful: Everything looks cheap and unappetising but it might just be the local layout.. Lidl's bread is amazing, much better than Tesco and Sainsburys.

I realise I'm being unreasonable I may give it another try one day but I think I'll stick to aldi for now.
