To be fuming with secondary school uniform?

Sleeve has come away from ds's blazer again. He is y9 on 4th £35 logoed blazer and a sleeve has come off for the 157th time. I am so fucked off with repairing and replacing this overpriced piece of tat to comply why school rules. AIBU next time to rip off the sleeves and let him wear it as a gilet? Uniform rules do not state blazer must have sleeves.

Take it back and get a new one. It's "not fit for purpose".

Looked at that previously, the bloody pocket is fake, logo stitching goes through both layers. Should check again thou just incase that was a dud. Then tbh I should be miffed I paid full price for a dud.

Sleeves really dont just fall off. He is clearly not looking after it properly.

If the blazer is that badly made then take it back and get a replacement, and tell the school that their chosen supplier is rubbish so they might want to re think.

But entire sleeves don't generally just fall off, are you sure your ds or one of his classmates isn't doing anything to aid the sleeve falling off?

Tried complaining before and was ignored. Tbh I should put more effort into chasing complaint but as it is an outsourced uniform provider it does not fix the short term issue off DS not having correct school uniform.

I have had linings develop holes in over time, but sleeves fall off? No. Not yet anyway.

You need to go back to the supplier though, they are the ones you paid the money to.

The school can only make a note of it and bear it in mind for when the time comes to renew the contract. If the blazers are all so badly made that sleeves are just falling off, then you won't be the only parent to have said something.

The sleeve 'fell off' ? How? I can imagine the stitching coming undone a bit/ in part if the arm has been tugged or pulled... but the whole sleeve has come off?

Have considered it is DS, but he is broad shouldered and after being asked by my parents is if fashion to have ripped shoulders at DS school as it is what they see , I think it is a quality issue.
Tbh I should raise the issue formally with school and supplier as it is not just me that encounters these problems. Ugh I had enough of being 'that parent' at primary

The blazers at the school I teach in are constantly falling apart, I can totally believe an arm falling off. Our art technician is a dab hand at sewing them back together. YANBU, very annoying.

Yes maybe I should be repairing holes/looseness on a daily basis but when DS only tells me when it's hanging off its a bit late for a stitch in 9

Teach ds to use the sewing machine (and in the process to learn not to play tug of war with his blazer)
And if the quality is crap complain to the parent governors, that's what they are there for.

Thanks all. DS is adamant it's not him, but he is a teen so pinch of salt. More structured talk with school/uniform provider combined with more responsibility 4 DS required
Would of thought he learned his lesson when I made him sew up his pjs he took the scissors to at 9, but that's a life time away when your a teen I guess

Tell him to go to Lost Property, and steal borrow one from there

My DD is so proud that she leaves school at Easter and is still wearing the blazer she started with in year 7, complete with the old school badge.
I offered to replace it but apparently she bet someone way back in year 8 that she could see out her high school career in one blazer.
