Can a dentist do anything for a wisdom tooth.

I am taking Neurofen plus, with adult bongela and this oil stuff my mum gave me.

It's taking the edge of the pain, but it's difficult to open my mouth and I am getting ear ache.

Go to the dentist.

Perhaps you have an infection that could be treated with antibiotics. Or maybe it would be better to have the tooth removed.

Could also try swishing with salt water.

Have the bugger out

Yes agree with jack.
Some denists can remove, some refer you elsewhere, cost a fortune though.
Expect you need antibiotics.

They need looking at if they hurt. Hope you're ok OP. Toothache is miserable.

I had trouble with three of mine (all removed now) but I would constantly wait for it to pass or get antibiotics or whatever and the problem would keep coming back and worse. I think your dentist will probably suggest you have it out too...

Ive had all 4 of mine out, 2 in dentist, 2 in dental hospital, not too bad, but I don't mind dentist, pain was pretty bad after meds wore off, but not so bad that I didn't go out to a gig that night, I was ordering glasses of ice for my face, but got a kiss on the cheek from the lead singer for my trouble when they let me in back stage after I said I was most dedicated fan coming out to see them with wisdom teeth removed only hours earlier,

Nurofen, hot salt water mouthwashes or try Peroxyl mouthwash by Colgate. Not all wisdom teeth need removing if it is erupting food tends to collect under the flap of gum lying over it. Keeping the area really clean is the best way to prevent problems. But get it checked out by dentist who will prescribe antibiotics if they are indicated.

PS Bongela contains an aspirin derivative which is likely to burn if used too much and cause ulceration - so does clove oil which is what the other stuff sounds like.

Depends on what's wrong with it, but a dentist will be best to advise you if you're in pain definitely.
One of mine is bothering me at the moment because it is pushing through (has been for at least 4 years now ) but there's no problem with impacting or anything else sinister, so no need to have it removed.
What do you think the problem is? Is it fully through the gum?

I had all 4 of mine out at once, in hospital when i was 23, they never broke through the gum but moved along it leaving me in constant pain and giving me an overbite that means I should have had braces I couldn't afford.
I'm so glad I got rid of them now.

You might just be teething, but it sounds like at the very least you need an exam and and X-ray.

It's a gross question, but does the gum smell? That would definitely indicate an infection.

Try anbesol if the wisdom tooth is coming through the gum. Better than clove oil for numbing it.

I ask because when one of mine was coming through I had exactly the pain you describe. I was at Glastonbury festival and I couldn't even open my mouth to talk or sip a drink without being in agony. This went on for about 3 days and it was horrible.

Now I'm aware that homeopathy is seen as some kind of devil worship on mn, but I'll tell you what fixed the pain for me. I went into the travelling homoeopath's tent and they gave me chamomilla 200c, the same as you give to teething babies but in a much higher potency. Within a few mins the pain had completely gone without a trace and never came back.

If it's been there a while, and it's maybe got a hole in it, I recommend tramadol :)

all mine are out and i was the worlds biggest wuss and was so scared.

that evaporated when they all became infected....the pain!! i took ABs but didnt get rid of infection....ended up having to have 4 lots and the last lot were like horse pills....i was so desperate to have them out by then. i was told if nfection didnt go i d have to have a GA at hospital to have them out....didnt want that so ended up phoning gp and begging for something ultra strong! when infection did go i had em all out at dentist - easiest thing ever. easier than a filling and a hell of a lot quicker.

see a dentist and if they are getting infected have them out. they serve no purpose anyway, and they are too far back to clean properly, plus they dont always erupt properly which causes infection.

If you ever have toothache for more than a day (or excruciating toothache for a few hours), you really should see a dentist. Pain is a sign that something is wrong, and chances are, it won't go away (and will probably even get worse).

Salt water was a miracle for me last time i had cutting through. I could barely open my mouth and my whole head was throbbing.

As concentrated as you can- until no more will dissolve. It just evaporated the pain, and i kept it up every hour or so.

Two years on and i still have all my wisdom teeth. Never had pain like like that again.

Yes, they take it out. Or refer you to the hospital (I have mine out under general.)

My Wisdom tooth is cracked it's really starting to bother me now I went to the dentist who said it needs to come out it's ready to pop as the nerve is at the top.
I'm so scared I've taken a day off work to go and get this tooth out today.
I've had a back tooth out before had no issues but I heard the wisdom tooth is worse I'm having it done under a local I'm scared help ! I might not go but it's giving me proper Jip now :-(

Go to the Dentist immediately! Don’t want to alarm you, I had this and the dentist took an x Ray. All the pain was related to an infection and growth on my jaw bone. A simple operation solved the problem.
