..because I've come to the end of a very long road today.
Thanks to the nhs, after seventy million operations ok, exaggerating, I have two reconstructed ears! I was born without any. Bullied because of it. And thanks to two lovely doctors, they've rectified it, and now I can wear sunglasses properly!

Thankyou Nhs Smile

BingoWingsBeGone · 19/02/2014 20:00

My mum, dad, me and by dd1 have all had life saving operations from the Nhs. We have written each time to thank them. I know there are crap bits but when push comes to shove it is pretty amazing.

Hurrah for your new ears Flowers. Are you going to have them pierced,

SauvignonBlanche · 19/02/2014 20:01

Brilliant! Grin Flowers

persimmon · 19/02/2014 20:01

The NHS have been amazing for my mum, born 1939, had polio aged which left her with lifelong health problems.

Yippee for your new ears!! Grin Flowers

persimmon · 19/02/2014 20:01

RestingActress · 19/02/2014 20:02

YANBU, the NHS is wonderful, but sadly being deconstructed bit by bit

ThursdayLast · 19/02/2014 20:02

This is excellent news!
Without the NHS, DS and I wouldn't have made it, so I'd like to add my thanks too.

I'm glad for you OP.Thanks

mellojello · 19/02/2014 20:02

Happy New Ears to you Grin xxxxx

Weegiemum · 19/02/2014 20:04

That's brilliant!

Due to the nhs, I get given the chance every 5 weeks to walk for another 5 weeks (it's a bizzare neuro problem treated by an infusion that comes from blood and costs £8000 every time).

Also they pay the mortgage (dh is a GP).

HectorVector · 19/02/2014 20:05

Nice post. I work for the NHS and had a really crap day yesterday where I came home feeling incredibly under appreciated and over worked and you've made me smile. Now go out and buy yourself some amazing sunglasses and enjoy your ears.
:)

ILiveOnABuildsite · 19/02/2014 20:06

That's lovely news to read at the end of the day, made me smile and happy for you. Woohoo for sunglasses! And for two new places to store pencils!
On a serious note, I have had wonderful treatment on the NHS throughout a very difficult and complicated pregnancy and will forever be thankful for the safe arrival of my gorgeous dd.

tattyteddy · 19/02/2014 20:06

The NHS is brilliant, I totally agree with earlier post that when push comes to shove they are there for all of us. Congrats on the new ears!

I was on holiday in India Last year and my DD was a little poorly out there, I've never been so grateful for our NHS, truly a jewel in the crown.

RosegoldRuby · 19/02/2014 20:06

Congrats on the new ears. Get yourself the most stylish sunglasses. Why stop at one pair? You've lost time to make up for.

I love the nhs. My DS had a life saving op last year, by a world expert in DS's condition. All on the nhs. Thanksnhs

Mouthfulofquiz · 19/02/2014 20:06

Congratulations!! This aibu has made me smile a lot!

PinkyHasNoEars · 19/02/2014 20:07

Brilliant post.

Enjoy many pairs of sunglasses in an array of fabulous styles.

Floggingmolly · 19/02/2014 20:09

Fantastic Smile

OddBoots · 19/02/2014 20:10

Congratulations. :)

I owe a huge amount to the NHS, I love your story but seeing it against the backdrop of the NHS being ripped apart makes me so sad and angry. How dare this government destroy something so amazing and how are they getting away with it?

DebbieOfMaddox · 19/02/2014 20:10

Congratulations! There are many marvellous sunglasses out there...

TheReluctantCountess · 19/02/2014 20:10

Brilliant news!

DorothyBastard · 19/02/2014 20:15

What the bloody lovely thread. Congrats on your new wiggies, you'll have to treat yourself to a fancy new hairdo that shows them off, and a set of diamond earrings :)

JustMarriedBecca · 19/02/2014 20:16

I can't explain how much I love the NHS. They get such a raw deal but they are generally, totally awesome.

I agree....you need diamond earrings. Big ones.

justmyview · 19/02/2014 20:18

That's lovely, if the weather improves a bit, you might even get to wear your new glasses outdoors Smile
