AIBU?

To cancel 1st date because of

Jennynero · 16/02/2014 15:29

....... an enormous chin boil!!! I put toothpaste on it last night and it's bigger than ever!

The date is with a lovely guy I've been chatting to for a few days from Match. I know it's really shallow to cancel because of a spot and if he doesn't like me because of it then he's not worth knowing but it's really huge and red. Even copious amounts of concealer couldn't cover this monstrosity!!!

Help Confused

When's the date and how far is he coming? I must be very shallow because I'd probably feel like cancelling too!

Try an aspirin mask on it OP, if you have no aspirin allergy.

It's at 7.30 tonight. It has gone slightly crusty (sorry Shock) and so concealer is making it look worse.

This is so typical, first date in 6 months and I look like the elephant man!!

Ibuprofen to reduce swelling

MonsterMunchMe · 16/02/2014 15:44

Put tea tree oil on it. Wait for it to dry then hold an ice cube or Ice pack on it for as long as you can bear. Take ibuprofen.

Mix a tiny bit of Vaseline in with your foundation for your chin to disguise the crust.

I had to do this on first date with DP as I had a massive coldsore. I changed the venue to a dimly lit bar and got him drunk Wink

Thanks for the great advice so far everyone. Great idea monster munch, I'm going to try all the above and if all else fails, I'll move on to plan b (dim lighting and alcohol) Grin

Surgical spirit applied on cotton bud, dries 'em up fast.

Seriously, he won't care!

Go and have fun

I'd have to postpone

YABU op, it's not even that bad a spot Wink.

He'll be so staggered by your beauty, he won't even notice. Go and have fun! You never know, he could be the one Grin.

Do you best to minimise it, but actually mention it to him. Make a joke about how it would pop up before your date, but you were keen to see him anyway. I guarantee he will respect you for it and say how lovely you look anyway.

SumBex · 16/02/2014 18:48

So what did you decide to do in the end?

Report
Ledkr · 16/02/2014 19:04

Wear a push up bra!

Seriously, I'd text him and make a joke out of it so that the "elephant in the room" is at least noted.

I had a massive coldsore on my first date with DP. We've been together a few years now Grin Hope you're on your date - let's have a loo update!

I have one of these at the mo and I'd defo cancel if I were going on a first date tonight. Failing that, wear a paper bag over your head. He won't notice!!

I know (well I hope) you're on your date now, and I hope it went really well. I was just talking about this thread with my dp, he said if anything was going to work it was Ledk's suggestion of the push-up bra. In his words " yep, that'll work, we're simple creatures".

If the date is only going to be influenced by a push-up bra then he's worth missing anyway.

I bet she's on the date. It would have bothered me 25 years ago; not in the slightest now.

Anyway why didn't anyone ask for a picture of it so we could judge properly.

And actually, you could have come out with some mnetters last weekend and where exactly were you?
