To go and see this show without dd1?

There is a production of West Side Story fairly locally to us next week. I really want to go, so do dds 1 and 2. I've known about it for a while but just didn't get round to booking tickets.

So of course it's now pretty much sold out. The only tickets they seem to have are a few seats on the Saturday matinee. However dd1 won't be there as she is going on a school ski trip during half term.

WIBU to buy 2 seats and see it just with dd2? I feel bad for not getting tickets earlier but nothing I can do about that now. And if we go, should we be honest to dd1 or just not tell her we're going without her?

Of course it's fine, if DD1 is going on a skiing trip then it would surely be nice to give DD2 a treat?

Best to be honest about it, but you could could ignore the fact you didn't get round to booking the tickets earlier and just say that everything had sold out.

Wonder if you live near me, just booked tickets for the same show? Grin.

How old are they? WSS can be quite hard hitting & I've heard the tour is especially so

But yanbu there will be other opportunities

I missed booking when it came near to us but dds school (upper school so dd won't be in it) are going to be performing it next term with dh musical directing so we'll go to that.

What dates are her trip? Half term here starts 14th Feb.

Of course YANBU. If one dc is off on a ski trip, they can hardly complain if another dc does something without them while they aren't there.
dd1 can't go anyway, Nothing to be gained by you 2 missing it, is there?

Thank you. I know dd1 is having a lovely treat with the ski trip but it's just this feeling that I've gone back on my word.

I didn't say to her - choose either the ski trip or the show. The understanding was that the 3 of us would see the show irrespective of the ski trip. Had I got my act together earlier, there would have been availability during the week before she left for the ski trip.

Just trying to do the right thing by both of them!
